We finally got a new place!! The rent is outrageous, but the entire city is like that, so it's not actually a bad deal.

But it's like... twice the size of this place! Whoooooo! (that is to be read in the style of Ric Flair.) It's a two-bedroom, two-bath flat with a sunroom and a dining room and a living room and a pretty good size kitchen and hallway and entryway and there's even windows, heating, and sunlight!! What sunlight there is to be had in the Richmond, that is. Western and Eastern exposure!

There's room for our stuff, ourselves, and maybe even a little room for dancing. Yay!

So we're packing now (it's amazing how much stuff we have crammed into this place) and moving this weekend. So far we seem to only own boxes and boxes of books. Poor movers.

I'm excited about the new place, but I'm going to miss our cozy "golden gate fridge". It's too small, there's no real heater, the water takes forever to get hot, and I'm pretty sure our neighbor is associated with the Russian Mafia. But four years (that's so bizarre) is a long time to live somewhere, and this place holds a lot of memories. It's also the whole "our first apartment" thing, which by legend is always small, cold, and crappy. But it's been a good home to Andy and me, and it's always hard to leave home.

In other, yet related news, my parents are coming to visit next week for the first time since I've been here. Andy's mom is putting together an engagement luncheon, so we decided to time the whole thing with Thanksgiving and get the 'rents out here for a week. It's my mom's first time in California, so I'm pretty excited about it. And a nervous wreck (as some of you who know my mother can imagine). Yes, I know it will be fine, and No, I don't need any reassurance. I'm allowed to be nervous anyway.

In other unrelated news, school is going fine, if somewhat stressful at the moment due to moving-induced-time-issues (ha! this paragraph is related after all!). I seem to be excelling in my choreography class, which gives me some hope for the future. We just got our final assignment, which is a little intimidating, but at least it sounds like it will be fun to work on, as opposed to most final projects. It has to be 4 - 6 minutes long, which is about 4 times the length of previous pieces in the class. I hope I come up with a theme soon.

I must pack boxes now.
