We've often said, "Never in my lifetime." That changed last night when Senator Barack Hussein Obama II became President-elect, defeating Senator John McCain with 52% of the popular vote, vs 46%. Change is coming. I hope that this is not just for the Presidency, but for the country.
Russ Parr said this morning, on the radio, that this election proved that those still racist voices of the past are now irrelevant. My mom and her relatives were the first (and only blacks) to attend a newly integrated school. In her lifetime, she was able to see a black man elected as President. We don't lay "claim" to Barack, just as with Tiger Woods, since Barack is also of white parentage. What makes this more significant is that "mulatto" children were practically demonized a few decades ago, and now we will have one running the country. We have made great strides this century and I hope that we continue to make more.
God Bless America.
