The Fulcrum

Read at a minimum two books a month  - Not counting the seven books and three FMs I scoured for my information paper in the space of two weeks, I'm not doing too well here.  I started The World is My Home by James Michener and After Dark, My Sweet by Jim Thompson but have not made any significant progress since the beginning of June.  Fail.

Finish my tribal 'sleeve' - Currently not making any progress here either :(

Spin at OS w/ Shannon (before I PCS in APR) - Mission ACCOMPLISHED and I had BLAST doing it!!!

Write/ blog more frequently (at least once a week) - In progress.  Though I've posted something every other day for the last two months, I am going to reshift focus away from ECCC and more to writing when I'm inspired again (quality vs quantity argument).  I'll see how July goes then reassess...

Use my Rebel XTi - In progress, sort of.  I took the time rifle out during the Memorial Day holiday, and still putter around with it on occasion.  This weekend I'd like to try my hand at capturing some shots of fireworks and ultimately I need to continue to practice.  Surprisingly Manna has taken to the camera as well!  It has become an indispensible tool for her blogging and she's not a bad shot either :)

I am going to expand this goal to include doing something with the photographs I take be it frame them, display them or share them in a photo-centric community.  Since Memorial Day, I have made four such submissions and all were well received!

Get back into Pre-Ranger School shape (to include weight lifting) - in progress, but I need to ratchet up what I'm doing.  Our current Ranger/ Sapper prep is running/ ruck centric and though I'm seeing improvement, I need more challenges to break the plateau. Step one is to create an actual schedule this weekend instead of paying lip service to it.  Step two will be to actually adhere to the schedule.  MTF.

Run a 15K (Army 10 miler in OCT) - going to nix this goal.  I instead want to earn the Gold German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency.  Our graded events will be held in AUG through SEP, pending the German SGM's approval.  Bring it on!

Take vitamins daily - *crickets*

Quit smoking - My last whole cigarette was 27 APR.  I snuck half a cigarette on 4 JUN, but haven't touched them since.  I still wrestle with the sinister urge on a regular basis and as expected, this one will be a fight for the rest of my life.

Support my wife's physical fitness goals - The jury's out on this one, pending clarification of 'support'.

Be a better husband and father - Being home is good but I need to ramp up my participation a bit more.  This is another goal that I have to better clarify with an articulated plan.  MTF.
