The Journey thus far: 2022 Edition

This journal has been a hodgepodge of life updates, dream logs and poems, though more of the latter two than the first. Today though, is a life update and one that is long time coming.

It has been many moons and many winters since my last update with the biggest change of them being that the winters have gotten a lot colder while my spirit has gotten much warmer.

In 2020, just before the pandemic kicked off, I left Florida to start an off-grid art community in the middle of the Southern California desert. It was quite the adventure that unfortunately turned sour due to my hosts mental illnesses. That lasted about 42 days. In moving to SoCal, I sold everything I owned, so when I left SoCal, I had nothing to my name. Thankfully, I had family up here in Wisconsin.

Yes, I said, "here. I moved to WI, into my mom's basement, in Apr of 2020. Talk about a cliché though. A 40 yr old man living in his mom's basement. WTF! I had to make a change in my life and I had to make it quickly. During the time my brother Daniel and I got close again after a few years of not speaking to each other. So when he mentioned that he needed some help managing the IT infrastructure for his company, I stepped up; I'm glad I did. Becoming the IT Director for Asset Quest helped me fast track my life into stability again. I got an apartment in the Lower Eastside of Milwaukee and I was there for two years. Recently I moved into the Riverwest area of Milwaukee, and into a much nicer apartment with an amazing view of the river and the MKE cityscape.

When moving to MKE, I immediately felt the magic of this city and over the past 2 years I've been able to witness it directly.

While still the IT Director for Asset Quest, I launched a new venture towards the mission of creating an impact based economy. This new venture is called Renaissance Analytics, which it is a blockchain company that aims to help the world quantify the impact they create in their local and global communities. I went through a local incubator program called F-ORM and found more of that amazing magic here in MKE. I've met so many amazing people from all areas of MKE and it is really interesting to gain the different perspectives of this city. I've also recently become the host of a radio show called The Impact Report, where we showcase people and brands that are working to create positive impact in society. You can tune into that show every Monday at 7PM CT. (https://www.riverwestradio.com/)

Now Milwaukee is not without it's problems. This city has some very hot racial issues with it being one of the most segregated cities in the US, but problems are just opportunities in disguise. Milwaukee is also a hotbed for human trafficking and anyone that knows me, knows that ending human trafficking is the primary goal of an impact based economy.

There are no coincidences and it is nice to finally be in a place that feels like home.

I love you Milwaukee and I look forward to growing with you and making the world a better place.
