I'm now back in Bristol again after another trip to visit mum in Colchester. The train from Colchester to Liverpool Street didn't take me any further than Ingatestone, and so we all got on the replacement bus service for a trip to
Newbury Park. This turned out to be an architectural plus point, because we arrived in the splendid barrel-vaulted arch of the bus depot, after dark when it is floodlit. It's one of those tube stations where the architecture is inspiring, even though it's made of reinforced concrete.
Last week ended with a total of four curries, including one in central Bristol for a birthday do, for a colleague at a previous job. And as for parcels, I received the vacuum fluorescent customer display (from eBay) on Thursday. It's a little burnt-in, but quite functional.
In Colchester, I resisted purchasing a snowboard that acted as a game controller. It was just too big to bring home! I think it was for either Super Nintendo or PlayStation. Made my usual visit to Jack's Famous Supplies, where I was disappointed to see that they have learned the correct spelling of "pliers" after about 40 years spelling them "plyers". Also called at Gunton's, where I purchased coffee beans, which were weighed out from large tins that have not changed since my mum took me into the shop in a pushchair, and which are still sold in quaint measures of "pounds".
Oh well, back to work tomorrow.
