Another good evening at Dorkbot! I took along some hand-held computers/organisers, including three Apple Newtons, some Psions, some Palm Pilots and the AgendA with the chord keyboard. We also heard from Sam Downie about "Lifecasting" and the Macworld show.
jarkman was there with his mini-mill converted into a CNC machine. Some very impressive stuff there, all milled out of coloured perspex, although his eventual goal is to mill silver and fill the hollows with enamel. I mentioned
The Great Internet Migratory Box Of Electronics Junk" and showed the photo. Unfortunately, I had to head off to Temple Meads before the end of the evening.
Well worth the effort of spending time today and yesterday charging up 20-year-old organisers with grumpy NiCad batteries. And I now have a classic photo of myself (kindly taken by the Dorkbot organiser) wearing a space invader t-shirt and showing off an Amstrad organiser that's so sticky I had to wear rubber gloves. Really. The cheap case material has become stickier than gaffer tape now, and I just can't handle the damn thing. Oh, well, a photo to send to my dating web-site I suppose.
So, now I'm a tad knackered but happy. Will get more junk-box photos soon, and add to the junk with my own contribution. Will also get the UK101 restored and photographed.
