Timekeeping in the Tugurium

I realised that I didn't have a clock in the lab, unless you count the ones on the PC screens, which of course disappear as soon as the screen saver starts up. So I brought my old LED clock out of retirement, and it works fine. It has a nice red seven-segment LED display to match the other instruments, too. I built it in the 1970s from a kit supplied by Maplin's and my father made a metal and wood case for it.

I have found out that I missed the deadline for handing in late coursework, by one day. This means I have been given a zero mark for it, and will have to re-do it in the next month. It was all due to a mix-up over what day the original hand-in date was, Thursday or Friday. Oh well, that's four things to re-do for August 18th, not just three. And I went to so much effort to finish off that one piece of work for what I thought was the deadline -- all a complete waste of time.

Meanwhile, the HP 3456A is my friend. Red, yellow and black crocodile clips are not my friends. But I did find a handy way to connect wires to C-size batteries that don't have anything for crocodile clips to get a grip on. I stuck neodymium magnets to the battery, then stuck the clips to those.

magnets, coursework, masters degree, crocodile clips, led clock, led, electronics
