"Are you all right, Sakurai-san? Jun asked Sho, who sat on a rock by the seashore after they landed safely on the water.
The shivering Sho frowned at the pilot's show of concern. "Do I look like I'm okay, Matsumoto-san? First, you failed to provide us a private plane despite the advance reservation with full deposit payment. Then, you failed to land us safely as per schedule. Now, everything is ruined!!!" He squinted his eyes in anger.
Jun was aghast at the reaction shown to him. He only wanted to check on the passenger, but he was given a very rude response. He glared at the man and was ready to unleash his wrath at the ungrateful wretch when something stopped him.
There was something about Sho that made Jun soften up a bit. However, he could not put his finger in it. He spoke with Sho several times in the past, but it seemed like he saw him in a different light this time. Thus, he just sighed in response and gave a short apology. "I'm sorry about everything. I wish I could make it up to you somehow. Just say the word, Sakurai-san."
Sho huffed and walked away before he could do something that he would regret later.
Masaki watched the scene from afar and sighed. He walked towards Sho and placed an understanding hand on his friend’s shoulder without uttering a word. Sho gave him a short nod and continued to walk as far from Jun as he can.
Masaki approached Jun and made a low bow. "I'm sorry for his behavior, Matsumoto-san. He's not usually like that. This trip has a sentimental value for him that's why he was so upset."
Jun nodded at Masaki. "I understand. Again, let me know how I can fix the damage as I am to be blamed. The rescue unit should be here in a few hours."
Meanwhile, Sho walked along the seashore and sadly looked at the setting sun with defeated eyes. He softly whispered the words in his father's diary.
The once lonely cherry tree
Blooms lovely now by the sea.
New branches suddenly grew
Brought color and life anew.
A strong wave splashed by his feet. He sighed as he brought out from his wet sling bag his father's unreadable diary, which got soaked when they made a quick emergency landing on water, also known as ditching, a few hundred meters from the shore. From there, they swam with their life vests on the way to safety.
"Don't worry, Sho-chan. I photocopied the entire diary and stored the pages on a virtual drive just in case something like this would happen," Satoshi smiled at him then sipped on his glass of pina colada.
"It's safe, Sho-chan. Even I don't know the password to the virtual file so everything is safe from prying eyes." Nino said and removed his sunglasses.
When Sho turned, he saw that the two guardian angels had their own tent and bonfire set up complete with barbecue, roasted marshmallows, some beer and other drinks.
The two angels were a stark contrast to Sho's sorry appearance. He was soaked in water, sand covered his wet clothes and his hair is all over the place.
Sho didn't know if he would be happy about the saved diary or if he would be angry at their lack of food and shelter.
Sho suddenly looked around to check if anyone saw his reactions. Anyone who could not see Satoshi and Nino and might think that Sho was talking to himself. Guardian angels only reveal themselves to people they are guarding. They also have the ability to show themselves to other people. Usually, they can be seen by friends of their guarded ones. Sometimes, people can see the guardian angel’s friends (who are also angels).
"I found some tents for the living!" Jun happily announced as he was followed by a man whom Sho did not see before.
Sho wondered what Jun meant by the living.
"Pink! You're here!" Nino exclaimed and walked to assist the newcomer.
Sho’s right eyebrow raised at the sight. He wondered if this Pink is actually a guardian angel.
Ryo Nishikido squirmed at being called Pink.
"Sho-chan and Masaki-chan, meet Pink, also known as Ryo Nishikido. He and I had our angel training around the same time. He's a good friend!" Nino placed an arm around Ryo which made Satoshi frown.
Ryo smiled at the two. "Nice to meet you, Sho-san and Masaki-san. I've heard a lot of things about you two from Jun-chan, especially when he was deciding about the business partnership deal. Also, I heard about you from..." His eyes went wide when he looked at Sho.
"I have to go," Ryo gasped and suddenly disappeared.
"What did you do to my guardian angel? I've never seen him so upset!" Jun questioned Sho.
"I didn’t do anything. I just saw him a few minutes ago and…” Sho’s eyes focused on Jun’s torn sleeve when Mao pulled it a bit too hard while swimming ashore. “What's that?" He pointed at a small cherry blossom inside a triangle tattoo on Jun's right bicep.
It was exactly the image beside the poem in Sho's father's diary.
