One good, one bad, and one extra

Listening to The Hunger Games on audio (because time to read like a normal person is nonexistent; also, reading is difficult now). At the end of Catching Fire and I've come to some conclusions, two of which I'll share.

The good: That Katniss is all about Peeta being the one to rally behind. Not a Mary Sue move, imo, that our main character is the answer to all of our problems. Katniss knows her limitations and that Peeta is more appealing as a leader. I approve.

The bad: Can Katniss stop being paranoid for one f'ing minute? Ok, Hunger Games, killing each other, it's understandable. But she's so dramatic all the time, I should have killed this person! The alliance is a fraud! I don't know what the other characters are doing, but I'm inside Katniss' head and her constant "omg, everyone is against me" from the other tributes to civilians gets on my nerves. I think it's obvious that some of them are on her side, even if they're not explicit but she refuses to think one step beyond self-preservation. Understandable, but irritating.

Addendum: Hearing a voice actor yelling "Peeta!!" all the time is a little hilarious. Just saying. Who came up with that name, and why did Collins (and her editors) approve it? It's probably okay in print, but I can't stop thinking a) she's trying to say "Peter" and failing miserably, or b) of the bread.

ETA: haha - "This is why we never let you make the plans!" Excellent.
