Selling my time.

I started cross-stitching in high school and continued projects through college. When some girls were all excited about making little cute Santa Claus things, I was stitching gigantic products over two threads, angels and ladies in large elaborate dresses.

Mom still works on projects and says she's sold a few on ebay. Last time I went home I went hunting through the rolled-up fabrics and found a wizard and a fantasy picture I did in high school. They've been stored up for over a decade and a half and I've rarely given them any thought. (I'm a little upset we can't find all my old stuff; I did about 3 or 4 wizards and, my pride and joy from college, a lady in a yellow dress under an arch with flowers.) I told her to go ahead and put the two we found on ebay, see if I can get any money.

Today she emailed with the links on ebay, and I was surprised to feel a pang at seeing them for sale. I spent so much time cross-stitching, especially during the summer months, letting movies and tv shows and audio books roll while I stayed up all night going blind. I could literally marathon an entire Babylon 5 season while I worked.

I haven't picked up thread nor needle in a good 6 or 7 years. I keep finding good little items in the multitude of catalogs mom's got strewn around the house, but I never buy them.

ETA: So of course iheartschnickle and I got on a cross-stitch clicking kick (we love the internet), and she's been randomly copying and pasting things she likes. And she found a pic of the one I did sophomore year in college!

Took me forever but I was really proud of myself by the end:

I swear, entire seasons of Babylon 5 went into that. The detail on the flowers was incredibly painstaking.
