Copy this sentence into your livejournal if you're in a heterosexual marriage and you don't want it "protected" by anyone who thinks that gay marriage hurts it somehow.
A couple of years ago, when this type of amendment was cruising through Wisconsin, I made a sign to carry in protest at the Capital. It read:
My marriage is threatened by
Domestic violence
Drug & alcohol abuse
Unemployment
Divorce
Lack of affordable health care
Corporate fraud & embezzlement
Deficit spending
War and
Bigotry, but
NOT GAY MARRIAGE
Well, obviously, my little sign didn't do much because Wisconsin's amendment did pass - dirty bastards - and we're all still paying the price. Good luck to those fighting the good fight out there.
