Prompt: AU Lisa and Sara are BFFs
Here is why it was so easy for Lisa Snart to befriend Sara Lance: there was no way that the fighter would fall for the Snart charm that was Lisa’s big brother signature move. And that was a big relief for the glider, considering that every single girl friend she ever had fell head over heels for her brother.
No, Sara was too smart for it. But Lisa asked anyway, just to make sure.
“Nah, I’m good,” replied the fighter, when she faced the please-tell-me-you-don’t-think-Len-is-cute question. “I won’t deny that he’s got a nice ass, though.
“Ew.”
And, you know, Lisa believed her friend for a really long time. She trusted in Sara so much, she even dared to leave her alone with Leonard a couple of times and didn’t go all neurotic when she came back to find them laughing and joking with each other.
It was so good, she would wonder, to have at least one friend who wouldn’t want to bone her big brother.
She didn’t think, not for one second, that Sara and Len would develop a friendship on them own, and perhaps that was the biggest reason why she was so surprised to see them chatting in front of Jitters, where the girls would meet.
There was an easiness with the way they chatted and smiled, kind of hovering near each other, never really touching, but also standing very close, which made Leonard have to lean forward a bit and Sara look up, her hair falling on her back. Something about it made the younger Snart walk a little faster.
“Hi, guys!” she greeted, too excited for it to sound real. “Lenny, a word?”
Lisa held her big brother’s sleeve and practically dragged him a few steps ahead before turning to him with her most serious expression.
“Don’t you dare!”
“About?” he replied with a smirk. He knew exactly what she was talking about, she was sure of it.
“No moves on Sara, she’s not your type!”
Now he straight up smiled.
“How can you tell, baby sister?”
“I’m serious, Len, this is not a game.”
“You think?” he raised an eyebrow and his eyes wandered behind her. Leonard stood straighter. “Have a nice coffee, you two,” he hit the ren of an imaginary hat and Lisa turned around as he walked by her and Sara, who was coming in her direction.
Lisa didn’t reply, like Sara did, but she observed - the way both Sara and Lenny made a big show of turning around and then looking back at each other, and how they smiled, as if they were sharing a secret, and how the younger Snart realized that perhaps she was late; perhaps Sara already had fallen for Len, and perhaps Len had fallen for Sara as well.
If she was right about it, oh goodness, wouldn’t her life turn into hell.
Prompt: Captain Canary + Leo walks in on Sara getting dressed and sees the scars on her back
It was on one of their rare off days, one they had a chance to just enjoy the view of whatever place they landed on while Gideon did all the work to track Savage’s next location, that Leonard accidentally saw it - her - changing into some fresher clothes.
He supposed that going through the League of the Assassin’s twice could be rough, but he certainly didn’t expect to see so many scars in Sarah’s fair skin. They weren’t the kind of scars that stood out, they were more like thin lines just a couple of shades lighter than her normal skin tone, cutting through the constellation of freckles of her back, but Leonard was an expert in scars and knew how to identify them.
“Nice scars,” he commented, opting to stop by her door, and Sara turned around, not particularly surprised to have company.
“You think?” she replied, raising an eyebrow. She was wearing a black sport bra, cargo shorts, her hair knotted in a ponytail, and she looked absolutely beautiful wearing skepticism.
“I kind of have a big knowledge on the matter, and those,” he dared step inside and since she didn’t throw any weapon at him, he proceeded. “are some kick ass scars.”
“Some of them are the reminder of my death, you know?”
“Must’ve hear about it somewhere,” he smiled, leaning against her bed, and Sara tried very hard not to smile as well. “What do you think they mean?” Leonard asked, and the assassin frowned.
“I don’t think they are supposed to mean anything, Leonard.”
“Are you sure?” he pressed, and she just looked at him. “For me, every single scar has one story only: that you’re resilient, and a survivor. That you’re still here. At least that’s what I like to think about me and Lis.”
This time, Sara smiled for real, the shirt she was going to put on to go outside still forgotten on the bed.
“I like that way of thinking, Snart,” she said fondly, and then pretty much checked him out. “So, are you gonna show me some of those marks of survivors or will I be the only one exhibiting skin here?”
Leonard smirked.
“That’s an interesting way of asking people to take their clothes off.”
“Wasn’t it what you were aiming for from the start?”
And hour later, Mick was the one chosen to go find the two groups members who were making everyone be late to their hike, and when he passed by Sara’s room, he saw them - the crook and the assassin - excitedly chatting and, more surprising, shirtless. Both of them.
“What about this one?” Sara was asking, her fingers brushing the pale scar above Leonard’s left ribs.
“Age 14. Another courtesy of Lewis Snart, after I screwed up a heist and before he landed his ass in prison. He pushed me against a grill.”
“Ouch,” she sympathized, but Len just shrugged.
“I did it on purpose,” he confessed. “I didn’t want him around Lisa, she was only two and deserved better. Besides, my mom could make good use of the government pension…”
Mick knew that story, he didn’t need to stay. Neither they needed to go with the team for a walk. He stepped back, thinking about leaving them a note at the bridge, but still got to hear the next thing.
“Wanna see the one of the arrow that killed me last time?”
Prompt: Sara has a date and Leonard helps her get ready
“I’m not sure I’m the right person for this,” said Leonard in a bored tone, as he observed Sara check her outfit in front of a big mirror. “She’s not even part of the mission.”
Sara just looked back at him with a raised eyebrow, waiting for a better elaboration that didn’t come.
“You had your fun in Russia, Snart,” she finally replied. “No one said a word about it. Why couldn’t I have my fun in the 50′s?”
“Valentina was part of the plan,” he justified. “Your nurse isn’t. Besides, what good would I be in telling you what to wear to seduce another chick? I wouldn’t know.”
“It’s not a ‘you helping me pick an outfit’ thing, Len. It’s a ‘you’re the only person who’d possibly calm me down a bit’ thing, because I’m kind of nervous about this.”
“The past is scary,” Leonard agreed. “Even when we know what will happen.”
“Exactly,” Sara nodded. “And Rip keeps talking about how we can potentially screw up the timeline.”
Leonard scoffed.
“Why would you even care about what Rip says?”
“Because he’s from the future, I can only assume he knows something,” she turned to Leonard, softening the fabric of her blue dress. “How do I look?”
He looked at her up and down, the smallest of the smiles on his lips.
“Like whoever is your date is a lucky person,” he admitted and Sara smiled, letting out a deep breath.
Sara left five minutes later, and the ship felt like a lonely place without Jax, Kendra and Ray, who still were undercover. Extra bored, Leonard asked Gideon where Rip was, made sure that he wouldn’t accidentally cross his way and sneaked out of the sip, considering meet up with the others to get a beer or something.
Kendra and Ray met Leonard in front of the milkshake house where Jax was trying to fit in with the city’s kids. Since it looked like he was having some progress, his team mates decided to go without him and the three of them started down the street, knowing that there was a bar a couple of blocks down.
To their surprise, Sara was standing outside in her blue, knee-high dress that matched so well with her eyes even in the dark night, looking, if Leonard dared to say, rather sad.
“Sara?” called Kendra, and the assassin looked in their direction.
“Hey guys,” she greeted, and after that they were silent for a couple of heartbeats, wondering what had happened.
Leonard had a good guess, though he decided to say nothing about it. Instead, he just offered his arm to her.
“Mind join us for a drink?” asked the crook, and Sara smiled, accepting the offered arm. “Perhaps that beer we never finished in 75?”
“As long as we don’t get in any fight,” she replied, and they entered in the bar all ignoring the double takes Kendra was receiving.
“You know that was your fault, Lance,” Leonard observed and Sara shrugged.
“Guilty,” she admitted. “Though it wouldn’t have happened if you had just accepted to dance with me.”
They looked at the jukebox at the far corner of the bar, where some slow blues filled the ambient, and Ray came with four beers. They each got their beverages, and then looked at each other.
“Let’s not make the same mistake this time, then,” Leonard suggested, and by the way Sara smiled it was clear that he had just read her mind.
Prompt: Sara falls asleep and Leonard carries her to her room
Movie nights every Thursday were Ray’s idea. Little Mister Sunshine suggested that it would be nice for the team to spend some domestic time together, and to Leonard’s surprise more than half of the team backed him up. So every Thursday night, someone would pick a movie and they’d all get together in Carter’s old room with chocolate cake, popcorn and coffee or tea for a couple of hours.
That night, since Kendra was the one picking the movie, Leonard made sure to claim dibs on the bed as she went through Netflix lists. He was fine having the bed only for himself until Sara arrived with two mugs of hot chocolate - one for her, one for him - buying herself half of the mattress.
The moment Kendra started to look into the “Romances to make you weep”, the crook and the assassin exchanged a quick glance. It was also the moment Mick arrived with a massive bowl of popcorn, making sure to let everyone know that he’d only share it with the people who’d give him space to sit. Left with no choice, Sara and Leonard squeezed in a corner to make space to the Heat Wave and his bowl. The others were left to share the couch and a few pillows on the floor.
Having chosen the movie, Kendra hit play and ordered Gideon to kill the lights. The first scene of “The Last Song” started and there was a collective moan.
“Nicholas Sparks? Really?” asked Sara and Kendra shrugged.
“That’s the only one I haven’t watched yet,” she justified. “I heard it’s pretty good.”
Sara then turned to Leonard and spoke so low, only he was able to hear.
“I bet Mick will cry at the end,” she said, and Len smirked.
“My money goes on Raymond when the turtles go to the sea,” he replied, and she raised an eyebrow. People had the terrible habit of forgetting that he was a big brother who’d do anything for his baby sister (including to marathon shitty movies on lazy Saturdays), but Sara seemed to be the only one to catch up fast. Silently, they shook hands.
With Sara leaning against Leonard’s shoulder, the movie begun and despite the initial complaints, they all watched it in silence eating and drinking until the story got too deep for anyone to want to interrupt.
Despite everything, it was a good movie, but it was also very long, so halfway through it Leonard noticed that Sara was leaning a bit too heavy against him. Risking a glance towards her, he was surprised to see that the blonde had actually fallen asleep, her hair falling on her face, her feet pushing Mick’s legs away as she slumped more awkwardly between the two rogues.
It was almost the part of the turtles, but for some unknown reason Leonard couldn’t keep his eyes from her, as if he wanted to take care of her, but not the same way he felt about Lisa.
With a subtle decision, he got up carefully - which also meant awkwardly, seeing that he had to make sure Sara wouldn’t wake up - and once his feet were on the floor, Leonard slipped the blonde in his arms. That was when Ray saw them.
“Want me to do this, Snart?” he offered, but Len shook his head. He knew that Mick was looking at him since he started moving, and Rip was also certainly watching.
“I’ve got this,” he replied. Before leaving the room, he still looked at Jax to whisper- “Tell me if anyone cries and when would you, kid?”
After the youngest team member nodded, Leonard headed to Sara’s room, to leave her in her own bed, which he did with little to no trouble. You don’t get a Great Big Brother certificate without being able to drag your little sister from whatever situation she gets into, and he even reserved some offense when people doubted he could carry Sara - who was so tiny and weighted nothing - around.
“Who won the bet?” Sara mumbled sleepy, when he covered her with a blanket, her warm hand holding his wrist lightly, and Leonard smiled.
“I don’t know yet,” he hushed, observing the way her eyelashes shadowed the freckles of her cheek. “Jax will tell you tomorrow morning. Now go back to sleep, assassin.”
She didn’t reply immediately, and he told Gideon to kill the lights on his way out. When he was almost out, he heard her say-
“Thanks, crook.”
-which she wouldn’t know, but made him go to sleep with a smile on his face.
Prompt: Secret relationship until it's not
“Shhhh,” They said at the same time, their shush louder than the actual sound they were making before in the small bathroom at the end of the corridor that lead to the storage room, and then they laughed like the teenagers they weren’t for a very long time.
“Shhhh,” Sara said again, one finger resting against Leonard’s lips as she stood on the tip of her toes to have her nose touching his. He smiled, holding her wrist and pulling her hand down before kissing her again.
It had been like that since Leonard came back, a miracle from whatever god Sara could pray for dropped at their door.
Being the only two people who knew about that kiss at the Oculus, they kept it as their secret - first because they wanted to figure what the hell was going on between them, and secondly because it was their nature to not let anyone know. Also, there was the fact that they were in a key moment of their mission and everyone needed to focus to make everything work without the same casualties of the previous one.
So there was that small bathroom at the end of the corridor that led to the storage room where they hid once, because someone was coming, and then kept coming back, because it was just the right size for both of them and hardly anyone used it.
“Excuse me, Ms. Lance and Mr. Snart,” called Gideon with her soft British accent. She was probably the only one who knew about them (or so they hoped). “The rest of the team is looking for you, for we are five minutes from arriving at our destination.”
“We gotta suit up,” said Sara, even though her hands on the back of his neck indicated that she had very little will to get out of there just yet.
“I only need three minutes to get ready,” he replied.
“And I need two,” she added.
They were about to kiss again, but the AI wouldn’t give them the time.
“May I warn you that Mr. Jackson is coming in your direction?” she informed, for it was something they had asked her to do, and they sighed, finally stepping back.
“Fine.”
The closest bedroom was Leonard’s, and it was where Jackson found them, the White Canary watching the Captain Cold put together his cold gun while she fumbled with a deck of cards.
“There’s no way you were here the whole time,” Jax said, something between annoyance and surprise in his voice as he stopped at Len’s door. “Gideon would just tell us.”
“We weren’t,” responded Sara. “did you know that there are some pretty cool places in this ship to train? But I don’t know about Lenny.”
“Got bored, went to map a few things,” Leonard said not even looking back at Jax. None of the things they said were lies - Sara liked her unusual practice spots, Len knew from heart every single inch of that ship -, just not specifically on that day. “Why?”
“We’re landing in a minute and Rip wants everyone in the bridge right now,” Jax’s sass was almost palpable as he spoke, making them suspect that perhaps he knew something was going on between the two. Sara jumped from the bed, leaving the cards on top of it.
“Yes, sir,” she said sarcastically passing by the youngest of the group. Behind her, they heard the familiar sound of the cold gun coming to life.
“Off we go,” he said, right when the ship gave the first signs of landing, and the three of them went to the bridge, ready for a fight.
Nothing was supposed to be easy in that mission, but also nothing prepared them for the real bombing the Waverider was submitted as soon as the door was opened, sending shreds of metal everywhere. Luckily, no one was near the door when the first wave hit. Jax and Stein merged, Ray shrunk and both ice and cold guns came to life, setting a threat to the following wave of bombers, an attempt to make room for a hand on hand combat in the field, but their enemy was well prepared and they couldn’t seem to be able to move forward. They needed another plan.
“Rip!” called Leonard, hardly daring to look around as the ship shook with another near explosion. “Some of us gotta go to the jumpship!”
“What?!” exclaimed Firestorm. “Why in hell?”
“I’ve got a plan!” the Captain Cold shouted above the noise, thinking fast. “But I will need help. Just a couple of people. Ray and Sara will do.”
“Why not me?” asked Mick, and they weren’t sure if it was a bit of betrayal what was leaking in his voice.
“Because you’re important to keep the Waverider safe,” answered Leonard. “With your knowledge, you will know what to do.”
There was a brief moment of everyone exchanging a glance and waiting for Rip’s endorsement, and then the Captain nodded.
“Keep your coms on,” he advised and the two visible members of the team nodded before running back inside and towards the jumpship. Ray caught up with them in the middle of the corridor.
“Are you going to tell us what plan you have?” asked the ATOM as they ran faster.
“A really bad one,” informed Leonard. “Gideon, set the jumpship to one minute before the doors of the time ship were opened.”
“Where to, Mr. Snart?” asked the AI.
“Same location we are right now. Only on the opposite direction of the bombers.”
“You’re right,” Jax said in their coms. “That’s a really bad plan.”
“Sara,” Leonard pointed the way to the pilot seat and she was quick to jump on it.
“Strap in, guys,” she said the exact moment the jumpship came to life and they were hardly ready when the jump occurred.
Since they were making such a small jump, it took no time at all to be on the other side of where the Waverider would land, and Leonard was quick to go to Sara’s side.
“What now?” asked Ray.
“Keep the lights down and the engine to a minimum,” the crook directed. “We have to wait until they are distracted with the first bombs, and then we hit. Gideon, can we have an infrared on the forest?” his requested was quickly responded. “Now, Sara, I will need you to target those spots while Ray and I hit them from beh-Sara?”
Only then he had turned to her and only then he noticed that she was holding her left side, a piece of what seemed to be metal dug in her flesh, and she seemed to be losing quite a lot of blood.
“I’m fine,” she assured, sounding way more firm than she looked. On the floor, the time ship arrived. “I can do this. It’s simple.”
Ray could be mistaken, but in his opinion, Leonard seemed actually terrified that moment, that quick instant between the Waverider’s door opened and the first bomb dropped.
“You gotta go,” she commanded sitting straighter with a wince. “I will watch your back.”
The instant seemed to stretch as they looked at each other, and Sara’s hand - the one that wasn’t bloodied at her side - rested against Leonard’s cheek, making Raymond feel like he probably shouldn’t be witnessing this, and then Snart took off his parka, putting it softly around the Canary’s shoulder.
“Don’t you dare dying on me, my love,” he said, his forehead against hers, cold gun ready, and she smiled a little.
“I wouldn’t. Now go.”
And they went.
