“That was the year I knew the panic was over, yet since we found out that anything could happen…”
Ellie Goulding

Stiles was sitting with Scott in one of the tables outside the school facility, waiting for the girls. Two weeks had passad and people were trying to move on with their lives, but it couldn’t be that easy for them could it? His favorite activity at the moment was try and think about nothing. And he was getting very good at it. Sometimes.

“Guess who we just saw?” Lydia asked, as soon as she and Kira approached. The boys just shrugged. “Malia.”

Stiles’ eyes were instantaneously wide.

“Malia is here?” he asked surprised. Lydia nodded.

“I think she enrolled.”

“Malia is here?” he echoed and the three friends exchanged a worried look.

“Yeah. What’s the big deal?” Kira asked cautiosly.

He stood up, suddenly anxious. The think-about-nothing thing not working anymore.

“She hasn’t called me back in ages! Remember what I told you, Scott? About helping her?”

“Yeah, b-” Scott started, but Stiles cut him.

“Where did you see her?” he asked Lydia, his hands in her shoulders, their faces really close. She raised an eyebrow, unsure if curious or scared.

“Near my locker ten minutes ago, she was talking to Coach Finstock. Jesus, Stiles, chill!”

Suddenly he noticed that maybe he was being a bit intense and he took a deep breath.

“Okay. Sorry.” Stiles apologized and held the strips of his backpack. “I need to find her.” and headed to the building right after the words, ignoring his friends calls.

He went to the obvious place - the secretary - and waited on the hall. She wouldn’t leave so fast, would she? If Coach was showing her the school, she still would have to go to the secretary and have a little last chat with the dean, get her locker number and stuff. So Stiles kept on waiting, passing from one side to the other until he heard her voice.

Malia really was there, shaking the dean’s hand, proving to be a very polite young lady and promising to be a good student. He knew that because it was what everyone promised when they first got to BHHS.

And when he sighed, relieved to see her again, she turned her head, as if she sensed him - and she probably did. Their eyes met and they smiled at the same time. He didn’t register much and the next thing he remembers is that she was right in front of him, her dark brown eyes a mix of happy and uncertainty that warmed his heart.

“Hi.” Malia said, still smiling.

“Hi.” Stiles answered. He wanted to do something, but his hands seemed to be glued to the backpack stripes, his brain blank.

“It’s been a while.” She said. Malia had this thing about looking into people’s eyes, it was mesmerizing.

“Why didn’t you take my calls?” He asked, sounding more hurt than he intended and she bit her lip, looking down. “Malia?”

In a moment, the glue was gone and he reached to her face, making her look at him again.

“I heard about your friend and I didn’t know what to do.” She said and he took a deep breath, lowering his hands.

“Well, you didn’t need to do anything. You still don’t need to. You can just… be here, if you must.”

She smiled awkwardly, blushed cheeks and looked anywhere but him; the memories of that fateful night when they thought everything would be lost anyway rushing through their minds. Stiles swallowed, also blushed. They were closer than it would be comfortable, they realized.

“Does it need to be weird?” he asked low, gesturing both of them and she raised her head.

“It?” the girl repeated and he gesticulated again. A small smile attempted to scape and Malia looked into Stiles eyes.

“Because I don’t think it d-” he was cut mid-sentence by her lips in his and his eyes went wide with surprise for a instant - and the next, she pulled away. “You women always catch me unprepared.” he said, making her laugh, cheeks red.

The following moment he had a arm around her waist and the other hand on her neck, fingers tangled in her hair, and kissed her properly this time. Her hands clutched the front of his jacket, trying to erase even more the space between them.

“Well, no wonder he wanted so much to find you.” Scott said behind them and the immediately jumped back, startled. He was with Kira and Lydia, and the banshee smiled at Stiles, an eyebrow raised as if she knew things. “Are you gonna study here, Malia?”

Stiles rolled his eyes at the stupid question, but Malia let it pass. This time.

“Yes. Just enrolled.”

“Cool. Stiles told me about your agreement. I have time today, wanna have some wolf lessons?”

Malia smiled and looked to Stiles, who nodded. She nodded too.
