The lady, or the tiger? Which door will you choose?

I've never heard this story, to be honest. After I read it, my inital thought is that the door on the right holds the tiger. You've got a woman who is focused solely on the "other" woman. If she can't have this man, why should anyone else?

After reading it again, because I wanted to make sure I had my thoughts in order, I realized that it didn't matter. Either way, the princess will be getting the sympathy of the people. If she loses the man she loves to death, everyone will be thinking: How sad that she had to watch her true love die like that. If she loses him to another woman: How sad that she has to watch her true love live on with another.

On the third read, I realized that it still didn't matter, because if she truly loved him - knowing the consequences - she would be there with him. Which also says something about her father, because wasn't she just as guilty as her love? Why is she not facing two doors?

It strikes me that the man is truly in love, and would probably rather face the tiger.

I tried to put myself in the place of this princess, but found it difficult because I can't see how anyone would find watching that sick game appealing. Just because he chooses the lady, doesn't make him innocent. Everyone knows he did it, so the whole charge is pointless. And who's to say that the waiting lady isn't his sister or something? I've had quick and quiet conversations with men in town and we weren't plotting a secret affair.

Well, we were plotting, but it was Resistance business, not a rendezvous in the hayloft.

That said, if it was Wyatt, facing death or marriage to another, I think that I would rather he chose the tiger, simply because I couldn't stand the idea of him with someone else. Not seeing him again becase of death is one thing, but knowing he was out there...

That's a lie. I know that, no matter what, Wyatt would still love me. Together or not. If something happened to me, I would hope that he was able to find happiness again. There's nothing as aggrivating as a mopey Wyatt Cain, let me tell you! I would never be able to love another the way I loved Wyatt, and I know that Wyatt would never love anyone the same as me.

If Wyatt was forced to marry another, he would accept the ruling. And he would do everything to honor her, whether it was in his heart or not. But that's the kind of man Wyatt Cain iswas...

i love my husband, about wyatt, .charloft
