Well, now that was interesting...
Yesterday I typed the facebook URL into firefox and went to take a peek at various things.to my surprise I was met with a window saying
"You have not entered your real name into facebook, we require that you use your real name in order to have a facebook account"
Along with two little boxes for "first name" and "last name"
Duely I entered my facebook pseudonym and was a little more surprised to be met with a window saying exactly the same.
Tried a few more of my online identities and was curtly informed that nothing that wasn't my real name would be accepted.
With the implication that the machine already knew what it wanted and was willing to wait until I told it officially...
So I started entering insults, "Screw You" as a name wasn't acceptable, Nor were "Up Yours", or "Bite me".
"Get Bent" however appeared to pass the filters and I was presented with my account details page and a warning that by entering the data I was certifying that this was my real and legal name as could be used for, for instance, taking legal action regarding anything I posted on facebook or in any other part of the internet that they could trace.
Fuck that shit.
So I've deleted my facebook account.
