that sounds horrible :/ glad you still have gainful employment but it sounds pretty crappy the criteria used for who goes. i'd much rather work with (and do work with) someone who's late every day but is great at the job than someone who's rubbish but there early (who i used to work with. her contract didn't get extended...)
even i'm contemplating the financial climate today and i try to remain eternally upbeat about it. sorry to hear of your trying times. poor half-dozen.
it's partly your ever-accomplished writing that's inspired me to have a go at being a bit more creative on my lj so thanks for that and thanks for commenting! it's cheesy but it's a start aye!
Glad you dodged the bullet, but I feel so sorry for the ones who were let go. It's not going to be easy to get another job. The best thing about my job (which I mostly hate) is that's for a county council and the staffing requirements don't fluctuate so wildly. Cling to your job, young bytepilot, no matter how shitty it gets.

As is I intend to live for the day, dance for the night and drink the sun up.
Care to join me, either philosophically or in actuality ?

Even the managment types are glum, because they really don't want to do this.

Congratulations on surviving, and I hope contracts get signed soon!

Might have run out of coffee, that would not have been good.
