As in THE Bard, Ol' Bill hisself!
While I had to cut my own evening short just as things were picking up at "Shakepeareoke Night", I not only got out TWO readings but got to witness the Elm Shakespeare Company have some fun and rehearse at the same time!
In addition to the 6 professional thespians, there were at least as many duffers like myself who read their parts with decent accuracy and definite enthusiasm and covered at least 8 different works including "Midsummer Night's Dream" which said Company is producing this summer.
Yours truly did in fact offer (as the 2nd person on the list. Yikes!) "Falstaff on Sack" from Henry IV part II and was actually called out from the stage by the emcee to do another later on, so I got to do the Band of Brothers speech from Henry V. I was one of two non-pros to not use a mic for their readings...and during my "encore" I looked out and literally saw every face turned to me. Now I see why actors love stage over screen!
Home now and trying to wind down so I can actually sleep tonight, which was the main reason I left when I did.
G'night all!
EDIT: And this morning they posted a couple pics and a short video of the night. I'm pic #2!
