Been watching the first disc of this anime from Geneon. Like much of what Geneon has produced it has a crap tone of cell shade + cgi for most of the back layer, and even quite a bit of the character movement. The visual aspects to this film are in the costuming and that the riotous patterns on the clothing does not move when the character does, more like that arm moves to expose more of the pattern. The patterns are designed in such a way as to make such things apparent.
To boot it is also a new take on the Count of Monte Cristo, a favorite story of mine. The O.G. of revenge stories.
