Monday, Monday... I have been easily distractable by things like this noisy helicopter suddenly descending over the cows to play about in the nearby field...
I suppose the problem is that most of the military are not country people - they seem to have no idea about stock.
Which is where I'd assume they'd have some kind of advisor to stop them getting on the bad side of farmers, and/or having to pay compensation for killing livestock and/or traumatising the calves out of cows before their due dates and so on! Presumably people with half a brain were culled in the last round of "saving money" or whatever it was...
I hope your blackbirds are just delayed - they're so lovely to hear! *g*
Blimey! That helicopter does look unnecessarily low, the poor cows must have been terrified. The pheasant is beautiful, I had no idea their heads were coloured so vividly (I suppose it's a male?). And I do love those coloured lights, your place must look particularly cosy and inviting at night.
It was very low - so low that it landed in the next field over from where the cows were, and then played at up-and-down for the next half hour or so... Just really bad behaviour, if you ask me - though apparently the farmers gave them permission to use the fields now and then...
Yes, definitely a male pheasant - he seems to have a couple of female partners, although I haven't seen them for weeks now, so I hope they're okay. He's such gorgeous colours, isn't he!
I ummed and aahed about getting the little coloured lights. I don't want anything to stop me seeing the stars, and they can be a bit bright sometimes (the coloured lights, believe it or not) - but then it's not often that the stars are out these nights, so... I went for it. Like you say, for the cosy. *g*
Thanks! It's one of my recycled pallets from last year, painted "dusky gem" and tied to the end of the oil tank to disguise it a bit! It was supposed to have plants hanging and growing all over it, but its turned partly into the place I hang garden tools - and coloured lights! *g*
They do like quite cute, but I felt sorry for them having to deal with that monster of a thing!
You'll probably have landed and hopefully be safely home by now - hope you had a good time! I wonder if I dare hope for a few pictures too, for reasons of vicarious travel...? *vbg*
PS - speaking of cute, it took me a few minutes to work out what your icon was!

We usually have baby blackbirds in the hedge of our garden, but I haven't heard any this year. Last year's brood did well, though.

Except for the reunion, I didn't take many pictures since it was mostly going to the movies and visiting people. But there might be a few.
Yes, isn't he cute? I was looking around for the milkweed plant, thinking that I'll plant some this spring, and ran across its beetle. 🙂
