I was having rather a cool dream when I woke up this morning - I was visiting some distant northern island, and was about to leave, but the last thing was that I was going to have a picnic lunch with MS! His partner was around, it was just a friendly thing, and we didn't actually get there, it was just gathering stuff together, but - how fun! A bit

I have booked to go and see Hobson's Choice in Nottingham. I've been to the theatre on my own in the evening, and I've never found it an issue. I prefer matinees, just because of getting back earlier, but I have found that there are others on their own and I've never felt out of place, if that helps. Go for it!

My mate goes to the theatre on her own all the time, she's never said she feels uncomfortable. It is a social thing, but you mostly do your socialising before or after - during, you're watching. Just like the flicks.
And an evening away from a screen will be good for your eyes.
Love 'green' lads, the tree leaves make an interesting background - especially for a cityscape. The lunacy of my dreams is legendary - but because of my mental health probs my sleep patterns are all to cock and I rarely dream now,
Sometimes people say I pop up in their dreams, which is odd.
But I'm happy to say, I'm getting better every month. So that's all good.
Hope you enjoy the play - I love Hobson's Choice. Unfortunately financial impecunity means my social life is run on a shoestring at the moment - although I am hoping to finally get to Star Wars this week :0)

Yeah, but that's kind of the thing, it's a social thing before and after and those are the times that you're sitting there feeling like a sore thumb! But it really shouldn't matter, and it's not going to stop me going to see MS on stage!
It's always odd when someone says you popped up in their dreams isn't it - it's like being yourself but with no control over what you were doing, and no memory of it! Whatever you did wasn't you at all - but the dreamer will always associate it with you!

If you feel like a numpty, play with your phone or read something - you never feel like numpty if you're busy.
Ladies used to take their knitting - but you'd probably get arrested as a terrorist if you took a knitting needle anywhere now!

I'm not convinced that women took their knitting to the evening theatre, and certainly not if they were on their own - mostly because it was never the done thing for women to be out in the evening on their own to start with (which of course is where everyone's hang-ups come from!) And with the size of seats etc., I'd be giving serious glares to anyone beside me who tried to knit, clacketing away when I was trying to watch the play!

I imagine the sorts of ladies who went to the theatre in the evening never had to worry about knitting their own anything.
I don't have any hang ups being out on my own most places, unless it's a formal restaurant which is just so obviously set up for social dining, you feel it's an affront to the staff to be in there on your own!
And I'm happy to say that gone are the days when a single woman would be turned away for fear she might be a sex worker. I believe Selina Scott suffered that particular affront in no silence whatsoever, but I can't remember which hotel turned her way. Since she was extremely well known at the time - the stupidity beggared belief.
Just lucky the Queen hadn't popped in for a cuppa.

Maybe it depends on the theatre - I don't think I've ever seen anyone alone at the theatre, somehow. I think it's more cos it's an evening thing too... but I have every intention of going for it, cos I do want to see MS a) on stage, b) in Hobson's Choice, and c) with Christopher Timothy, who I also like!
