Sounds like you are wading through the mire a bit - me, too. Jacked in my job application yesterday half way through the day. There is only so much self-promotion I can take! I'm such a rubbish Pros fan. I can't even recall to mind the episode It's Only a Beautiful Picture. On the net they all give the same two line description. I'm relying on you to tell me something that actually reminds me of the episode - you know, like what the lads are wearing, or how they smile at each other - something memorable! :)
I just can't seem to get this job to work properly for me - I know it's all in my head that it doesn't, I just have to get my head around it. If I work late at night on it, then that's how it is - I need to accept that and just get on with enjoying the rest of the day and making it constructive! Stoopid head... *g* Rats for your job application - but it's good to be fresh for them rather than jaded, so - onward and upward, right? *g*
It's Only A Beautiful Picture is the one where the baddies are smuggling ancient statues and paintings etc. out of the country in a wee plane, and there's a slavering doberman that Bodie fights off with an electric heater in a pub, and there's Doyle dancing to music on the radio and pissing off his superiors on purpose, and they pretend-meet in the local pub and sit in the beer garden and chat... *sighs happily* It's this gorgeous ep (which post explains the next bit, so check out the next one first, if you've time *g* - and also the ep where this happens, which I'd forgotten about and I love - their
( ... )
I *knew* I could count on you - the minute you mention slavering doberman and fire, I was with you! If only those prosaic episode guides on the net had focused less on the art and artifacts and more on Doyle looking hot on his motorbike, I would have been on it! *bg* Mind you, that yellow t-shirt he wears in the gallery has actually, finally, come back into fashion (colourwise, but maybe only for the gals).
I'm sorry that you are struggling with work. One thing I know now is that I really couldn't work from home. It's so *sapping*. However do you cope??
Oh, sapping is an excellent word for it! Yes, it is somehow - it saps all your energy. I don't know why though - it shouldn't, it really shouldn't... but I suspect it might depend on what else you have going on at home, and when it's not anything that makes all the difference...
And yes! The yellow t-shirt! (Although I do object to the idea that various colours are only suitable for one or other gender - I hate the idea that we might have missed out on Doyle in yellow, or Bodie in pink, or that I'm not supposed to be wearing blue/black/whatever colour they decide isn't "feminine". Just - gargh!
I like them wandering around the gallery too, being all civilised... and then pushed right back to settling for sausage sarnies at Nell's Caf... *vbg*
Actually, do you know Dave Matthew's Professionals website (I was going to include the link, but it seems to be down right now)? That has good summaries of the eps... I've been thinking that I might reorganise my tags too, and have one for each ep, so if I can get to work for gawd's sake!
( ... )
Oh, I like that Ep, too, so much! The end, with Doyle threatening to blow the plane up and laughing at Bodie being led off by the Police, LOVE!
I was in the virtual office for an hour today, still can't make myself do the dreaded part, which involves making phonecalls. Today's excuse: Mr. Maus is sickly and at home. Can't bear to be overheard talking on the phone awkwardly.
Good luck with your work! Hopefully the weather at your place is acceptable?
It's a good ep, isn't it! *g* And yes - Doyle at the end, all scruff and leather jacket and fire, and Bodie in handcuffs, and Doyle just so amused... *vbg*
Eep for dreaded phone calls... though I quite agree with you that you don't want people hearing you dealing with that sort of thing. It needs privacy! *g*
I'm now having a rubbish-with-work morning, and am trying to tell myself that it's okay to have a pottering-morning, that's what working at home should be able to allow... except that really I must work. It doesn't help that instead of the forecast rain all week, it's gloriously blue-skied and breezy and warm, which would be fab weather for going off out somewhere... oh, I want a holiday! How's your weather over there? Still roasting? (Hey - maybe we're getting your roasting-weather now!)
Ooh - just distracted by weird little jumpy-creatures on my desk... where did they blow in from? They look like teeny tiny slater-bugs (woodlice) with really long antennae - and they jump rather suddenly and impressively... but they're tiny
another lovely episode which i love ...ah bodie as recall throwing stones into a pond..he looks like he is pondering on a few things (perhaps he's missing his Doyle ) and then being taken away in handcuffs while Doyle just sees the funny side ..infact i watched this episode a couple of days ago ...today i watched the episode "heroes" i just have these pros moods from time to time *g*
I like It's Only A Beautiful Picture too, especially Doyle undercover acting the part of an insubordinate copper, and the scenes in the pub and beer garden, and Doyle asleep in the car... *happy sigh*.
Doyle 'dancing' to the radio never fails to crack me up. There's also an awesome post-ep fic for that one, the name of which completely escapes me at the moment, with Bodie stuck in the clink overnight and Doyle's drink getting spiked and Bodie also being spiky as hell the next day until they get it all sorted - lovely story. Sorry for your Job 1 troubles and the mushrooms: I would have disposed of those for you! The mushrooms, I mean. (winks)
Black Sheep by HG! I love that fic! *g* And yes - Doyle dancing to the radio makes me either want to giggle or raise my eyebrows, or squidge my eyes shut - I'm never quite sure which! No one was watching, so was he being in his undercover character, or was he just taking advantage...?!
Job 1 troubles are really just me-whinging troubles, honestly. There are advantages too - I was just able to write a wee bit for my Victorian story, and have it hovering in the back of my mind instead of concentrating on whatever I need to for other jobs... You would have been so welcome to the mushrooms! I like them well enough in small amounts, in things, but... I gave my leftovers to landlord for their lunch - hopefully they'll like it! *g*
