Writing and wandering and le weekend...

First of all - blimey, I did it! I caught up my lost NaNoWriMo days, and I'm properly more than a quarter of the way through - wheee!

I took myself out for an explore and a walk today, determined to shake off a droning headache and focus on Kenyon and Cross, and it worked - I finally sorted out what was going to happen for most of the beginning and middle, and for the ultimate end. Yeay.

It was also a gorgeous day - and I think we're pretty much into winter days here now, which I think I ultimately measure by the number of winter-bare trees around, which seems to be most of them! In fact Saturday was like this:
all rain and bluster to start with, though it quietened down eventually. And there was dinner with landlords again (my turn to cook) which turned out both convivial and edible, so that was nice... *g*

Then today dawned like this:

All frost-y misty (and condensation inside windows!)

This is where I took myself for a walk - King Alfred's Tower!

It's a three-sided tower, which is very dramatic from the other side (built to commemorate Alfred's victory over the Danes, apparently near this very spot, way back in 878AD)

The woods were still autumn-y a bit...
That's the trouble over here though, there's no big two-week blitz of glory, like the American autumn, because there's so many different kinds of trees that it just doesn't happen all at once!

Then, because I was there, I thought I'd pop in and see the house too - though only the entrance was open (it'll open again for Christmas though, they're doing conservation right now - that's carpet underlay you see in the room, because the carpet was rolled up and carried out by 16 people, put in a lorry long enough to take it and too long to get around various gates of the hall, and taken away for conservation work.

I do like a chandelier... *g*

And finally - Somerset sky - a glorious towering thing of beauty!

And then I finally watched the Doctor Who finale, but more about that in another post...

I caught up with my NaNoWriMo! Yeay! *vbg*
