Weekends in the dark...
Good morning! I was ever so lazy today, and woke up whilst the skies were just lightening - sunrise proper wasn't until 7.55am.
If the government and all those pressure groups that sulked at the defeat of the daylight savings bill last week had their way - it would still be dark now for another hour.
I cannot tell you how much I hate that idea... I don't ever sleep in until nearly 9 o'clock at the weekend any more, no matter how late I go to bed, and I bet that millions of non-teenager/non-twenty-somethings around the country are the same. Will they really force us all to wake up in the dark at the weekend as well as during the week in the winter? It would be so much more depressing... Surely the morning is when we all need the light, to get us up and going and in a cheerful mood - never mind to drive to work more safely during the week, if we're a bit sleepy to start with? If anything they should put the clocks back a bit further in winter! It really scares me that the media seems to be supporting this so hard - and I can't imagine where the lobby groups have got their information this time. How will the roads be safer if even the extended rush hour is being made in the dark? I seriously don't understand...
