Yeay - caught up! And laundry...

Just bloody yeay, because from being three days behind after a stupid week at work (being given actual jobs to do, which was not part of the we-don't-really-need-anyone-but-we'll-pay-you-anyway deal!) I have today written over five thousand words for my NaNoWriMo, the lads are safely on the island, and just yeay, I've caught up! Also I'm well-more than halfway through. So yeay again, just because I really wanted to say it out loud!

On a completely different subject, a wee while ago we were wondering whether the lads might do their weekly laundry at home, or whether Doyle's DiaG visit suggested he sent it all out instead. I always forget about the novelisations as not only secondary canon, but a fairly decent record of what was going on during lads' time in the 70s/80s, and of course You'll be All Right, the fifteenth and final novelisation, describes things like this:

"From the shops it was a short visit to the launderette, where his week's supply of dirty washing had been cleaned, pressed and packed for him by the friendly woman who supervised the place. He chatted with her for a few minutes, then placed the bag of clothes into the boot of his car, and headed for home."

And re the security locks...

"...He struggled to unlock the door, manupulating the key in the yale lock with difficulty. He realised, with a thrill of annoyance at himself, that in his haste - his weary haste - to get to the hearing that morning, he had omitted to set the second lock with its automatical alarm connection.

"'You're slipping, Doyle. You do need a holiday.'"

(Funny, Bodie said something like that to him in my NaNoWriMo, too... *g*)

It's all a bit different from the ep - Doyle does his chores before he even gets home, and he's collecting laundry, not dropping it off, but - there, a wee peek at their lives, and Doyle doesn't do his own washing, at least not by the final season... *g*
