Holiday Day One Yeay

Yeay, am on holiday! And I'm counting from yesterday, even though I spent most of it on the road in really slow traffic... The RAC decided it would be far better to go the pretty way than the motorway, and I thought that seemed like a jolly good idea cos I'd miss the M4/M5 corner by Bristol which is always horrendous - so instead I spent a zillion extra hours at dead slow and stop on A303... The bright side was passing Stonehenge, of course - I was sure the traffic would speed up there, but it actually didn't, so I did take pics for my hol. In the first one you can just about see in the mirror the queue of vehicles behind me (its the cars on the other side that have gaps between them and are moving, not my side!)... and it lasted practically the length of the A303 too - about a hundred miles *headdesk* - I think cos the road is part dual carriageway, part single - the holdups seemed to be caused by the sheer volume of traffic merging into the single lanes each time... And of course there were plenty of eejits around. And... the guy who decided that because his lane of traffic was stopped, he might as well get out and have a wee. Right in front of his car. Where everyone could see him. Wtf?

I didn't take any pics cos it was a we're-driving-now! bit, but came through the Blackdown hills at the end of the road too, and that was really pretty - shrouded in mist, it was, with curls and swirls of it blowing across the road around around the fields and hills and trees - lovely! And then the other side of Exeter - rain, such as I've not seen for ages! It tends to stop and start in Cambs., and be very fair-minded about how much we get, but this was rain as I remember it from the rest of the world, coming down and down and down, and owning the land and everyone in it! Which is nice for a change... *g*

And then I made it, and there was foxcat74 and a cup of tea, and then pizza and garlic bread and chat and wine and... yeay holidaaaaay!

And tonight we're off to Bodmin Gaol for an all-night ghost-hunting session with psychics and everything! Wheeee! But before that are castles and coffees and wandering in Devon - yeay!

photos, wanderings - england, holidaaaaaay
