the "end of year" fic meme

Mar 05, 2010 22:17

It's not late enough in the year for me to rename this a mid-year fic meme, so take it that I'm just (incredibly) late to the party...

Masterlist

My favourite fic this year (of my own): Triptych - This really... worked for me. I liked the concept, and was satisfied with how it turned out.
Runner up: To Be Found Next Summer On A Riverbank - Basically, my baby. I love that 'verse so damn much.

My best fic this year: Triptych - feel free to disagree, but. It felt tight in a way that some of the other stories didn't.
Runner-up: Zombies VS Arashi - I don't think I wasted any words, with this. (Well, I mean they were supposed to be drabbles.)

Fic most tragically underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Warkworth, NZ in Winter - the whole time I wrote this I was giggling to myself and being extremely delighted. Perhaps the mood/length wasn't that easily related to. Still, I'm quite happy with it.
Runner-up: I don't think there is one! Any appreciation is welcome. :D

Most fun fic: Untitled Office AU - utterly ridiculous!
Runner-up: Scenes From The Life Of A Zombie Hunter - The subject of Nino's (imaginary) zombie movie will never stop being funny to me.

Most sexy fic: Triptych - Largely because it was the only sexy fic?
Runner-up: ... I don't think there's one.

Most unintentionally *telling* fic: Untitled Aiba/Jun - not telling. :D
Runner-up: Untitled Office AU - many aspects of my life at work made their way into this story.

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" fic: In Which Sirius Is A Girl - enough said.
Runner-up: I don't think there's one...

Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Triptych - I broke Ohmiya, for one. And the whole dynamic was different.

Hardest fic to write: Untitled Office AU - perhaps I was tired at that point, but the writing... really came in irregular spurts.
Runner-up: n things that never happened to Yano Kenta - this was easy to start, but finishing it took the longest time.

Worst fic: Polder - I don't hate it, but upon re-reading I felt that it didn't come across the way I wanted it to.
Runner-up: They Lived Backwards - this hinted at an R/S AU that probably has been written before. Also, I didn't directly answer the prompt. :/

Easiest fic to write: Toma's Bizarre Okinawan Holiday - this just wrote itself, literally.
Runner-up: To Be Found Next Summer On A Riverbank - this took a long time, but I'd say it was relatively easy to write. I doubt I'll ever get this feeling for a fic any time in the near future.

Fic I'd like to revise: the fic I wrote for jentfic_remix (yet to be revealed). But even so, I think I'm a bit to tired to think of revising anything.
Runner-up: the fic I wrote for shoneenclub's March Contest (yet to be posted). Recurring theme, Y/Y? But I'm not one to dwell, so it's been submitted.

Fic I didn't write but will at some point, I swear: SKR+TBL with forochel, that AU with g_esquared (GEE!), the cyberpunk thing that's still in progress. Also welcoming any new prompts. :D

First fic you wrote this year: And From This Gutter We're Still Staring At The Stars - Oofuri future!fic. I'd forgotten about this. I actually still kind of like it. During this period, I also fell in love with Japanese baseball and the idea of Sokeisen.

Last fic you wrote this year: the fic I wrote for shoneenclub's March Contest. In terms of stories already posted, Untitled Office AU.

Other Notes
I am fortunate to know people who (I hope) honestly tell me what they think of my fic and are unafraid point out silly mistakes, instances of strange pacing or OOC moments. (You know who you are, and I love you!) If there's anything you want me to know about my writing - things I should improve on, things you'd like to see - please feel free to tell me here. And if you've read up to this point, thank you! Feel free to give me a drabble/fic prompt. ♥
