Fic meme!

Masterlist

My favourite fic this year (of my own): Storm Children - I love this AU so very much. The words came very easily for this and it's definitely something I still want to return to.
Runner up: Music is Communism, but you're playing Democracy - Every time I listen to some really good classical music or go for a concert the cogs in my brain start turning for this fic again. The fact that people really liked this meant a lot to me.

My best fic this year: Ansible, ansible - I don't even write Gen Kill any more, but sometimes I go back and re-read this fic and am thankful for my short time in that amazing fandom. And sometimes I wonder a little at the fact that I was crazy enough to attempt a time dilation story.
Runner-up: Setting Sail - When this was still being written I sent snippets to forochel and darong, but I hadn't told them the reveal so that I could test if the twist worked as I wrote it... and the twist was a long time coming. But I wrote this story because I wanted to write that twist, and I'm satisfied with how it turned out.

Most fun fic: It's Not All Good in the Hood - There was something about the combination of Nino's outrage and the hip-hop swagger typical of the genre that just made me crack up while writing this.
Runner-up: A Little Madness in the Spring - I love writing in this RPF AU. Paul Bettany being a snarky badass and Sands+Skarsgard living in the house from Fight Club was a ball to write. :D

Most sexy fic: Triptych - Still Triptych, I should think.
Runner-up: Ansible, ansible - When forochel beta'd the first draft of it I'd used the word 'eclipse' in the Brad/Nate sex bit, and I remember her asking something along the lines of, WHAT IS THIS, TWILIGHT? and attempting to cure me of my run-on sentences. :x

Most unintentionally *telling* fic: Steering Mechanism - Actually this was quite intentionally telling, but there was no category for that, so. Lol.

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" fic: Under the Bridge - Well it wasn't that wrong, but... Nino turns into a troll.

Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: When They're Not Together - I think this was probably my only proper attempt to try to write Nino's perspective on being an idol.

Hardest fic to write: Electric Sheep (And Other Dreamscapes) - The length really wore me down, to be honest, and the ending was just really hard to write, even though I made every attempt to soften it.

Worst fic: Interesting Times - The shift in tone still kind of bugs me. I definitely don't hate it, and I had fun writing it, but it was not quite as tight as I wanted it to be.

Easiest fic to write: The drabbles, the setting - it very much came naturally, I think.
Runner-up:
Storm Children - this just started out as one short snippet, and the process of adding to it and building it into this story came very naturally.

Fic I'd like to revise: Storm Children - There's something about the ending I'd like to make clearer. I suppose the thing about writing fanfiction is that there isn't much room to go back and change things once they're posted? I might, at some point.
Runner-up: Electric Sheep (And Other Dreamscapes) - Though I probably won't revise it. :x It could have been much tighter at some places and a lot richer in others.

Fic I didn't write but will at some point, I swear: It's more of a question of fics I will finish, to be honest. The continuation to the Conservatory AU that's been brewing for ages. More Storm Children. Mori AU. I also want to arrange something in which Arashi are in suits; that is very high on the list. And calerine's birthday fic, + what I promised illuvium.

First fic you wrote this year: Toma's Bizarre Okinawan Holiday - I'd forgotten about this AU. ♥

Last fic you wrote this year: All the Christmas drabbles. In terms of fic, Love Type Thing

Other Notes
It's been a really eventful year, fic-wise, and this is probably the best time for me to say THANK YOU. To forochel for accompanying me through fandom switches and reading all those lengthy stories without even being into Arashi, and calerine for being such an enabler and for cheering me on and doing a tough and thorough beta job on my latest fics, and to EVERYONE. I'd love to hear from you guys - what you liked or disliked, what you'd like to see me try, perhaps, or any constructive criticism. Thank you for reading these cracky (or not so cracky) little stories, and for sticking around to point out what you liked about them. ♥♥♥
