To the Dump

House60 and House70, plus some other neighbors, joined forces to contribute some really broken and disgusting trash for delivery by me to-day to the Metro waste transfer station, otherwise known as "The Dump."

In the alley earlier and just yesterday in the street in front of our house some anonymous bags and trash were deposited...so that started the trash.

House70 then threw in with a trashed furniture piece, some weird plastic thing, a dysfunctional speaker and a broken Black and Decker weed wacker ( I held back some plastic planter pots).

To-day I scooped up this water logged foam thing which was in the way in our alley, and crumbling paneling I had removed from the back room wall under the window. Marisa threw in a plastic gridded bag full of urinated cloth and the cat scratched leather chair in our bedroom. Some garbage I found weeks ago in the alley was also tossed in, along with bags of garbage that were in our surplus garbage cans. I found a few items to dispose from our front room and, yes, I got rid of a rubbermaid trash can and lid which were both broken beyond utility.

Before I left this afternoon I put on my license plate tags so I would be legal, then lashed on a tarp with my spider bungies (which I have had since 1984 to move cross-country to Kansas).

As I crossed the bridge I realized it might be difficult to get there as the road for months was closed due to a landslide. However, they finally re-opened. To-day you see steel netting over the area which slid.

Metro was usual, only they didn't put the receipt on a little clipboard--just gave me the slip and directed me on.

Someone apparently dumped a bunch of broken but new furniture. One chair was really cool--leather...but missing two of its four legs. These pieces must have come from the land of forgotten furniture. However, they don't like you taking junk.

$35 to make my truck lighter and remove stuff we have no use for and made our lives, well, junky. Dealing with the junk, though, is tiring and depressing, but glad it is done.
