Irons in the fire

Jul 29, 2021 18:51

Realized to-day that we are making progress on a number of fronts. We have a lot of irons in the fire.

* A/V setup in living room. We have a new A/V amplifier but it needs to be connected properly.
-- ordered a new subwoofer similar to the one we had by Onkyo which died a year ago. We should get next week.
-- ordered a new fm antenna because the amp did not include one! We should get that early next week.
-- Marisa ordered a new Roku with "voice control", so when we get that she will probably get it working.
-- current Roku is hooked up and titled as Roku but it is our "sat/cbl" button as it is delivering most programming.
-- hooked up the PS2 (Playstation) about the same time as the Roku.
-- hooked up the all region dvd and bluray player which we haven't had for some time.
-- the tivo does not work well with the A/V, so may try analog input.
-- also have a vhs to dvd recorder and laser disc player.
-- if I can get the tivo back on line, I need to hook up an external antenna.

* Basement/backroom/ dining room
-- Air filter washed by Marisa. Once dried can go in the bag and we can replace with the dirty one in mid-August.
-- Back room empty of all Christmas stuff but the wreath box. I hope to do that next Sunday when the weather is cooler.
-- Truck filled to some degree and destined for the dump, but need to find more to go into it.
-- Need to pull down other boxes into the basement.
-- Need to pull up more stuff from the basement.
-- Need to install four roller blinds, starting with the north side, then the south side.
-- Pull down ceiling panels.
-- Pull down paneling around window.
-- Repair the nativity items, then stow properly.
-- Vacuum the backroom including the seat (I've enjoyed drinking coffee back there again).
-- Move dining table to back room.
-- I ordered dining table chair covers...so need to put those on.
-- seal cat door
-- put all cat litter in back room and leave door to back room open
-- remove equipment on floor of dining room
-- vacuum dining room

* Health
-- glasses seem good.
-- we have eye dryness remedies: yet to use mine. Drinking water helps.
-- skin cancer free so far. Schedule next one at beginning of May for some time in July.
-- got help with the wart to-day: will begin evening regimen to get rid of it.
-- need to get sun screen 30SPF or more to put on my face when I do work outside.
-- should lube my arms, chest and back after every shower.
-- 133/70 bp to-day: nominal. Restrict to just one cup of coffee before seeing medicos or donating blood!

* Fence
-- post caps and in general backyard fence looks good.
-- need to fill gaps and waterproof
-- landscape front and move Byron Hill 2, at least to clear path for 8 inch posts
-- in Fall, dig really deep holes for 8 inch posts and put in posts so trimming not needed!
-- with both posts in, add post caps and rails/pickets to Mike.
-- work on the Gates in 2022.

* North yard
-- paths ok, but need to redo everything to be permanent.
-- get heat exchanger level.
-- finish home for sewer access.
-- plant trees
-- finish circle for tetherball court
-- drive way cap and walkway extensions
-- connect pathway through front driveway
-- add posts and rails for picket fence

* Front yard
-- 8 inch posts (4 inch plus cladding) added
-- rock path extension
-- front walk way re-done
-- transplant plants
-- front step renovation
-- remove brick facade and add hand rails for Marisa
-- renovate ceiling and floor of front porch
-- pull siding to wood in front porch area

* South "yard"
-- transplant bush plants
-- transplant sword ferns
-- transplant rose campion (if we can find it)
-- thorough weeding
-- reduce soil to better level
-- start digging trench for french drain
-- join to rain barrels
-- dig drywell and connect
-- finish walkway and patio
-- paint trim
-- put up solar drier
-- veggie garden at end

* Back porch
-- redo steps
-- redo railing
-- add storage with lattice
-- new threshold
-- new window caulking
-- refinish chair and stool

* Gray water system and kitchen sink fix
* Fix pressure to kitchen hot water
* fix half bathroom dripping
* fix upstairs bathroom toilet

* Kitchen
-- wash floor
-- keep up on cans
-- keep up on dishes
-- clean bins in refrigerator

* House
-- dust
-- vacuum

* Upstairs storage room
-- put away art
-- put up new shelves
-- all films into room
-- shelves in bedroom

Besides all this, need to organize and get rid of things that are not part of the plan like spare anything.
