Rightly concerned with rain, I had considered not doing this to-day. Still, Weather Underground said showers would not start until around 1 or 1:15 p.m. Besides, we live in Portland: if we stopped our activities for rain we would not finish anything.
So, first step was hauling bags of clothing from Marisa's room to the first floor. I lined them up from the foyer to the dining room. The cats were running around, not sure what was going on! Marisa packed the last bag and I tied up a few bags with twist ties before taking those down.
Still no rain, I commited myself and started moving the stacked boxes on the porch to the truck, then moving the bags first from the dining room, then the foyer. Marisa helped with the last few bags to the top step of the porch. I was about to leave but didn't feel the load was secure, so added the elastic bungee webs (which I have been using since 1988 with only one broken hook since then). Then, about to leave found my seat wouldn't lock. Not sure why, but I pulled out all sorts of things stored behind the seat, then just moved the control (but never had to do that before).
Okay, now I am ready, so go back inside tosay to Marisa "wish me luck." She did and I got in the truck and left.
Utility work sort of slowed traffic and it was the noontime rush. Then, as I got to the local Goodwill I realized: I didn't have my headband and mask. Back I drove, pulled up with the full load, unlocked the front door and ducked in to grab my mask and headband. "Good bye," I said. Marisa realized what had happened: "Oh, no!"
And I left again. It was raining a little. This time I got up to the Goodwill and pulled up, loaded the spring-loaded carts (two carts full) and returned. This time I took the alternate route, swung by the the St. Johns Pub and then pulled in to Ace Hardware. Moving the boxes had required me to move a bunch of tools which had no home. So I used part of my "Kudos" to buy a new Stanley toolbox. The latch is plastic, which I didn't like, but I did like the compartment for hardware (nails, screws, etc.). Ace has a similar sized and priced box with metal latches (which I do like), but no compartments. So I went with Stanley.
I took the back way as local traffic and when I got home it was raining more.
We donated just in time.
After lunch I will clean up the front room and stow tools and hardware sitting in the bathroom and front room.
