The mechanics still have my truck, but it is in the shop and they at least had a problem starting it...so they do know there is a problem.
However, they had not tested the gas in the tank for water, which I had asked they do. They didn't do that because the problem seems itermittant. The symptoms, however, match up perfectly with water in the tank.
I think it could be a slant problem. My truck driveway is on an uphill slant, so the gas intake is higher than where water would settle. So starting the truck at home: no problem. I had been parking my truck at work on a relatively level surface, so the water would settle at the bottom by the intake. Once I get going, and as part of the violent start-up, the gas mixes just enough to allow the truck to operate. At stops though, starting up even with the agitated gas, is too much. More gas pedal, send more gas through, some of which is gas...just enough to keep the engine going. So, it is still possible that the problem is water in the gas tank.
So, they are trying to find the problem and have not tried everything. Now they put "sample gas tank" at the top of the list, so we will see. I am still betting on that. Gas pressure is fine, as it should be with a new gas pump!
Good to hear the guy is no longer thinking about new parts without a good reason. We have pretty much replaced everything that could affect this anyway (except the gas). I myself put in a new air filter but it behaved the same.
Work to-day was fine. I finally completed the conversion from one set of code repositories to a new set...just as we are talking about somehow splitting all of the work in a way that would have been controlled by the separate repositories! It don't think we will cycle back to that, though: the splitting will be done in a different way.
I am directing a small team to hit some goals our manager wants and everyone is working on the initial research. To-morrow I will continue developing the training document and Wednesday hope to finish it for the following week...and get started on the week after that! Trying to stay ahead.
Everything outside my job is focussed on getting my truck back and in working order. When we are sure that is good the next big thing is to get Venom fixed. He is just a terror, running around peeing and pooing and threatening other cats.
Of course, there is only so much I can do without my truck and to influence the work on my truck, so while waiting and not working I am looking at research activites on my computer, which is running very nicely, thank you.
