Cleaning Up A Little
Yesterday:
* ran dishwasher
* swept leaves into the leaf mulch pile alongside Marvin's Garden.
* took all items sitting on my bureau and put them in a box.
* put the box in the bedroom stack, awaiting relocation.
* downloaded pictures I could find on-line to a computer from February 2014 until now--in case pictures in these five years did not survive the bad sectors issue with my old hard drive.
* reviewed back-up DVDs: it is a pretty good collection.
I suspect that the files which may have problems are the large ones: videos. I can work without those.
The computer problem and the solution remind me of what happened in mid-February which I wrote about at the time. That time I was lucky enough not to have it eat away at my registry file, which gave me time to backup and then go to a new hard-drive. I probably could have done this myself, but the indications were not as clear and I had lost my operating system. Maybe I could have restored the O.S. but do that and return my data: probably not by myself.
On Friday night we watched, from start to finish, The Little Foxes starring Richard Carlson, Herbert Marshall and Bette Davis. While this film was set in 1900 and released in 1942, it really felt like Film Noir.
We have taken to blocking cat access to a lot of the house. The boy cats are peeing on fabric items, especially if they are on the floor.
In 2020 we will devote some time and money to getting them all chipped and fixed, starting with Venom (then Hannibal, Goose, Will and Eddie). I guess we wouldn't have problems if the male cats were alone, but they are all competitive. I don't remember that we had the problem with Kiwi even though he was not neutered for a year or so. Kiwi just got into bad fights with other tomcats: that is what brought us to neuter Kiwi, not peeing. Marisa wants to do Will earlier to make sure she does not get pregnant. It all depends on behavior. Once Will goes into heat, there will be no question. So far that hasn't happened and we are more concerned with male behavior with each other, with her and with those items they like to "mark."
