If's, And's and But's

Yesterday I posted my forecast for to-day and the weekend

I get my computer back. Well I don't. Not to-day or the weekend. The tech says I have a lot of files and there are errors which require tending I guess. So, the tech now says Monday afternoon (doesn't look like the tech intends to work on the weekend, so my computer will be there now for more than a week).

It bothers me that the tech is running into so many errors, as there was no sign of this until the day the computer would not boot up. I would not think there would be very many errors. Could the tech be doing something incorrect? I am really tired of the level of incompetence I keep running into in my life. I don't want to blame anything on anyone but me, but I expect if I pay for a specialist that I get a higher degree of sophistication and expertise.

I remember when we paid landscapers to re-do my yard and I had put up rain-barrels on stacked concrete squares. One member of the crew said they looked good, then proceeded to drill an extra hole in it which should not have been put there! So, basically I was pretty close to doing it the right way and certainly was more competent than that crew when it came to rain-barrels anyway.

Perhaps I would have been better off installing the flawed drive myself as a 2nd drive and doing the copying myself. Hard to say. It looks simple enough:

1. Install drive in 2nd location in pc frame.
2. Connect data cable to circuit board and then to the drive.
3. Connect power cable to drive (a y-power connector which also goes to the new drive.
4. Tell the O.S. about the new old drive (Disk Management, New Simple Volume).
5. Create new directory structure then start copying files from each part of the structure using the O.S.

My truck is similar. At two different places and both can't seem to handle the problem. Some time ago Marisa's car was having problems and no mechanic could seem to figure it out. It was a fuel pump, which we had to find out when Marisa was driving all alone in the middle of nowhere in Central California. When I first tried to get medical care I got some very inexperienced doctor and I was not pleased. So I tried the doc lottery again and that time it worked out: Dr. C. has been very helpful over the years.

I just finished alphabetizing my DVD and Blu-Ray movies. I identified several doubles.

Guess I will just get back to cleaning to-day--cat litter, kitchen, bedroom....maybe more.

I had thought about getting a computer out of mothballs, but will just limp along with my work computer and let the mail server accumulate the mail I want to keep (deleting as I go the mail I don't wish to retain).
