Squirrels, little birds and flickweed

Feb 18, 2019 10:55

Despite the fact that temperatures are still in the 30s and 40s, I think we have seen the last of the snow and ice. Spring is coming.

Yesterday viewed active squirrels and little birds in the morning. While cleaning up the yard pulled a lot of flickweed which was starting to flower in a few places.

Didn't do much: pulled a few weeds growing between bricks, swept off needles from the retaining wall and the LBT platform, re-assembled my plastic yard decorations, and moved the USA diversity sign to below the front yard tree. Simply too cold to do a lot of work right now.

I am not particularly motivated to do a lot of work this long-weekend (Presidents' Day), just cleaning and moving where I can. Two boxes of clothing on the 2nd floor were finally moved to the first floor to dump into a large box for donation. Marisa finally opened a box with a plant pedestal that has been sitting around for like a year.

Budgetary restrictions have not been firmly enforced.
* Marisa suggested a mat under the litter box. I purchased one: but costs around $50 total!
* Purchased $10 tickets to a show on Feb. 24. Yet, after the fee, ends up being $15 each.
* Purchased Wings of Desire DVD upon hearing that Bruno Ganz died: $15.
* Purchased a CCC yard-long photo: $20.
* Spent $65 on a family album when a seller came to me to make an offer...and the offer was accepted!
* I had to give up on $1000 in the slush fund in order to meet all bills this month. I will try to put it back in: probably just $500 was needed.

Still, I am not aggressively pursueing any purchase. I gave up on another glass negative by Tibbitts of Roosevelt Dam in Arizona. The previous one was from behind the dam, this one was a spillway. I gave up at $166.66.

A week and a half to go! Then reset for another month.
