Bicycle

I am reminded as I walk to-day at work on a "banana break" that my happiest moments in life have been with a bicycle.

As Mr. McCormack (I could have the spelling incorrect), my biology teacher in 9th or 10th grade, told me (through a photocopied Scientific American article), the bicycle is the most efficient way to travel. Of course, if you want to go faster you have to accept inefficiencies. However, if time is not a problem, being outdoors is acceptable and a person is relatively fit, then riding a bicycle is the way to go!

The distance traveled for the energy expended is what makes a bicycle efficient: the ability of the body to convert food into the power needed to power the bicycle, plus the bicycle's mechanism turns out to be a potent pair.

Besides that, it is going outdoors without windows, doors or any obstructions. The experience is also important.

Hiking is great in that way, but so inefficient. With a bike you can stop and observe...or travel quickly to something else of interest.

So, my ideal life would revolve around riding my bike every day.

This brings up another topic: magazines.

That one Scientific American article makes that particular issue of the magazine very valuable to me. Yet, it is one magazine amongst many at Zolacmanor.

I need to gather a very small number of books and magazines together as those which I particularly treasure so I can get to them easily at all times and discard others without fear of losing the core set.

That one issue needs to be included in that group.

I do have one bookcase where I attempted to do that, but it does not include magazines. So, maybe I should work on returning it to my "core" once again...including magazines.

books, bicycle, magazines, stuff, memories
