I have no idea what this tax cut thing is that was talked about in Washington, D.C. Certainly it does not look like I will see any of that (not that I wanted to see this at the expense of important Federal programs which go lacking).
My taxes at the end of 2017 apparently needed another one-thousand dollars for the Feds and about the same for Oregon.
I sort of knew this would happen as I sold some of my company stock to pay for our driveway.
In less then two weeks I go over the driveway project one last time and give them half the total. The intent is to do the work in May when the weather is dry enough to set the concrete.
Anyway, it will be tight for a while and I will probably need to tap into emergency funds.
I had one last big expense for a family archive of two big business families in the Northwest from the 20th Century. One of the selling points was that cut paper silhouettes were included by two of the most well known such artists in the U.S. at the time (1910-1920). These artists have had their works sell from $50 to $300 each and have had exhibits at the New York Metropolitan museum.
The other big expense were archival boxes for glass negatives, enough to finish the Howard Clinton Tibbitts collection and then smaller boxes for the Gates family collection and the Baker City collection.
Not quite ready to go back to work, but I shall and I will be back on campus this week.
