On a vacation day, I have been taking care of errands and not much else.
* ran the dishwasher and put away the dishes. Now keeping up on new dirty plates. Need to wash the plastics and pots.
* pulled a bunch of weeds by the Rose trellis. Soggy but easier to pull.
* picked up garbage around the front of the house, including remnants of a chain smoker who stood by the driver's side window of my parked truck!
* deposited a check.
* checked with the P.O. regarding the Sept. 5 package I was supposed to get.
* Ate breakfast and lunch.
* Reviewed my House 70 payments. Right now I pay $1375 a month toward principal with $510 is for interest and the remainder for escrow. If the interest stayed the same until I pay off principal then I would pay off the mortgage in November 2025. However, that is not true: the interest goes down as the principal is reduced. Online calculators can't intercept a payment schedule several years in, so all I know is that if I started to-day on the $134k principal I would pay it off also in November 2025. However the calculator says my interest is much higher than it is to-day. I would be glad to find $134K somewhere and pay it off right now...then I'd get back $1800 a month ($300 would still go toward my own personal escrow).
* checked craigs list for bricks. Several offers, but no useful responses. One is in Beaverton which I am not willing to do at rush hour (no contact...you have to go out there to see). One was in NW Portland but his bricks were already gone. I had use for the other stuff but without the bricks it was not worth it to me.
* tried to reserve spot for dinner at nice place in Milwaukie (Amadeus Manor) for our anniversary dinner (Saturday)...but the online reservation did not work (Yelp). Probably too late for them now but will try phoning when they are open (4:30 p.m.).
