Digging between the Phase Two junction and the window well/downspout I encountered three things which will make this much more difficult than I planned:
* Heating Oil Tank lines that were not removed after two de-commisionings. At least I know what they are and can remove them. Removing them will require me moving an array of bricks, rocks and tools from the north side of the house and then excavating a couple feet down.
* The foundation has a bit of a concrete bump on one side of the window well attach point. I will need to chisel this off so it is flat, then can attach the well over that area.
* The landscaper had buried yet another concrete pier (once used for our car port) right where I need to create a channel for the 4 inch pipe. What makes this difficult to remove is that the now former-drywell has really soft ground in that area, so can't get much leverage. If I could get in there and push I should be able to roll it up and away, but with the situation right now I can't get in the right position to do this.
I did remove the pipe used to take water drained from the gutter into the old dry-well. It was plainly not sloped correctly, so when I removed it a bunch of water came off...and not just water, but tar contaminated water from years of drainage off the roof.
I will have to buy another 90 degree junction to make this work.
Right now my focus is on preparing the area for the new window well so I can position the 90-90 under it. When I get close to that need to remove the HOT lines, then can finish the channel up to the concrete pier. At that point will remove the concrete pier somehow, do all remaining excavation needed and put all the pipes and pieces together. Then, install the window well and fill.
