Last night I was standing up in our living room, watching a movie on TCM Underground starring Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon. I felt a slight pain on my right side below the rib cage and above my groin. When I sat down and relaxed the pain went away.
Then, when laying down to go to sleep I laid on my left side and the pain returned, only this time was stabbing. Normally I don't get a lot of pains which do this, but the pain was so bad my eyes started watering up. I laid on my back for a while and the pain subsided enough for me to go to sleep.
This morning I feel a little of the pain, although it is not severe. Online research is not very helpful. It does mean something, as others have reported this, but it can be as simple as a strained muscle but can also be related to the colon, appendix, galbladder, kidney or liver. It could even be a referred pain for something elsewhere in the body. Ulcer and cancer are also possible.
About all I did yesterday was reach down to the ground to pick weeds and reach up to clear the traps on our downspouts.
Most likely it is a temporary digestive problem: I have also been releasing a lot of gas recently.
For now I am going to take a wait and see attitude on this.
If it were a normal week I would consider contacting my doctor. I haven't given up on that idea but I have an important meeting to prepare for on Tuesday which will take me to California for a very long day. If I am still struggling with this on Wednesday I will contact my doctor.
