Service Electric put in switches to control the light in the back room and the outdoor light, put in a new outdoor light and new rocker switch. The old switch for the outdoor light was left where it was (It no longer controls anything) and the old conduit over the roof was removed along with the old light (I did not get to keep it).
Some of the old wiring and pieces were left over. I will gather those in case they are needed later.
The back room ceiling lamp which was controlled by a pull cord is still there. The cord was just removed with the control by the switch.
No permits were written for this job. That probably would have complicated a straightforward job, but makes me wonder whether there is another reason (as in, maybe it wasn't done to code!). Looks pretty good to me for electrical. None of my other electrical jobs had permits, either...save the water heater and heating/ac system.
Certainly there are no exposed wires like what I saw by the conduit we used to have which crossed the back roof.
To feed the wires through, a few holes had to be added on the inside...and through those holes I see where the roof is not flashed properly with the side of the house: that is at least one of the places where the roof leaks! There was also a hole added to the outside to run a rubber conduit through to the light fixture. That hole probably needs some work.
So I will do clean-up and this weekend probably will have to do some patching and caulking.
I have replaced switches before, so I will see if I can turn the switch into an outlet or something.
However, it is what I wanted pretty much.
