Projects through end of 2013

Nov 09, 2013 20:15

Even though we have almost two months left of 2013, the time left to commit to any project aimed at longer term improvements to our living situation...not much.

Nov. 16-17: weather good: yard maintenance and finish last leg of fence. Put tools and paint away. Weather bad: clean the house including the back room or front room redeux.
Nov. 22-23: same as previous weekend.
Nov. 28- Dec. 1: Thanksgiving. The project here is merely getting food prepared, cleaning up and doing all the holiday mailing, writing, etc. I want to focus my "holiday" time here. Bring up Christmas stuff and install.
Dec. 7-8: same as November weekends...other inside projects: kitchen, book recovering, record collection recording, basement cleaning. If weather good, add lights.
Dec. 14-15: same as November weekends...other inside projects: kitchen, book recovering, record collection recording, basement cleaning.
Dec. 21-22: same as November weekends...other inside projects: kitchen, book recovering, record collection recording, basement cleaning.
Dec. 25: Christmas
Dec. 28-29: fall out from Christmas: clean and put away Christmas stuff.
Dec. 31: New Years Eve (I hope to stay at a hotel and go out that evening)

I would like to start 2014:
* in good financial shape, ready to pay off debts in late January.
* with a cleaner, more organized house: kitchen, back room, front room, bedroom, office, film library.
* beginnings of a cleaner basement, with target in early 2014 to finish removing all unnecessary items from it so that we can fix the kitchen drain, do basement-only repiping and can tackle basement floor/walls surfacing and sealing (including a basement drain to outside dry well).
* beginnings of a landscape we can be proud of, with the beginnings of a picket fence on one corner of the property and restructuring of the land on the south side so that we can properly drain water on that side.
* beginning to lose weight and work to become more healthy--more exercise, better eating, more time for proper hygiene (flossing!).

I think we are going to do that...and we can take off from that for an even better 2014.
