* Just got a big long list of recommendations on how to vote from the group Defend Oregon. They took no position on marijuana legalization (I voted yes) and the two private casino measures (I voted no). All but one of the measure recommendations they did make I agreed with when I voted except for one. I refuse to support the school bond issue to destroy Roosevelt High School. Interesting: they say our community (voting precinct) had 84 percent turnout in the 2008 election.
* Congress is dysfunctional. If its members were in a family they would be in a psychiatric hospital. --paraphrase from U.S. Representative Steven C. LaTourette, Republican, Ohio.
* Rocketsauce and Thundermustard: The Jack Black Story
* One of the first books I remember buying (at a book fair in San Bruno, California when I was probably 8 years old) was The Mad Sampler. We have accumulated all our Mad books in one place and that one did not show up. Guess I better find another copy of it. I think of it now and then. I seem to recall our german shepherd dog, George, bit into the original but this didn't stop me from keeping it and re-reading from it for many years after that. However, somehow it has been lost.
* This is the last day of my sabbatical. I woke at 5 a.m. and, if it wasn't for the internet I would have made what I want to make a daily schedule...to start work at 7 a.m. every day. There are a lot of reasons to do this: I just have to follow-through and use my alarm clock!
