Woke early (6:30) today to allow me some time to clean up the basement in preparation for a visitor. Sky Heating sent Mike to check our systems late this morning.
This which was a wise precaution for us because a year or so ago the entire system went down. Then Marisa was here to see Mike very bothered that I had not changed the filter regularly. Since then I try to change it at least every 90 days (or more often than that). This time he was happier.
The only thing wrong is that the intake air on the heat exchanger is clogged with debris. So, for another $100 (this check-up cost $100+), they'll clean the big coil (it is the big box sitting at the side of the house with the big fan inside it which pulls air through it to "exchange the heat").
If I can I will attempt to do the wet-dry vacuum on it before they arrive on Friday afternoon...to see if this is a self-maintenance thing I can do ( I believe so).
While I was down in the basement I checked out the floor: dry and no sign of newly washed in dirt or mud. I think our water management around the house has definitely improved and is making a difference.
I should keep at cleaning the basement. There is just way too much stuff there we do not need and it prevents me from doing things with the stuff we do want to keep.
