To Seattle

* Driving to Seattle, I'm reminded we can use the carpool lane. I agree because there are two of us in the car, but said I didn't want to because that lane would soon become the express lane and go through a tunnel. "I don't want to get Carpool Tunnel Syndrome."
* Marisa saw a sign that went roughly like this "I stopped eating natural foods when I learned that many people die of natural causes."
* We ate lunch in Woodland, Washington at Guadalajara. We had a nice Irish lunch. No, just kidding. They served "Mexican" food. I had a veggie tostada.
* Just so happens that once we decided to go here it allowed me to buy a Albert Patecky sculpture which weighs like 80 pounds and would have cost a lot to mail it. So I bought it on Ebay once the seller told me he'd let me pick it up. So today we went up U.S. 99 (Aurora Avenue) to Shoreline, Washington (just north of Seattle) to pick it up.
* On the way back we had dinner at Asian One restaurant. I am not sure but it may be a small chain of restaurants: good food with just the right proportions. I had the Pad Thai, iced-coffee with cream and we shared the 6 veggie egg rolls. Marisa had a dragon sushi. We sat at little but very strongly built wood table. The seats were more like tiny benches, substantial enough that they were difficult to scoot around.
* Finding our way in Seattle and Shoreline was no problem, but trying to drive in the right direction on the correct street and not hit any pedestrians or get hit by any cars: that is difficult. I think I drove around our Hotel four times trying to get on the correct street to access the parking structure. Driving back to the hotel was equally daunting even though I knew how to the parking correctly this time.
* I really had not intended to stay at the Westin Hotel, but confused it with a hotel a block away called the Warwick. We enjoyed the Warwick and liked the fact that it had no-valet parking and internet access without extra charge. Besides, the Warwick has a great view to the Space Needle (at least where we stayed last) and overlooks the Cinerama Theatre. The Westin has very fast service, nice rooms and special touches like leaf-shaped soap, bed reading lights on the proscenium-like headboard and a couch. However, the internet costs $10 a day and we had to get valet parking. Of course, if the valet parking is free it might be a blessing. I have a sneaking suspicion they will tack on the valet costs when we check-out. If so I will pay it and never come back to any Westin Hotel (the description said self-parking was available and not for an extra charge). I have been liberal with tips, though, so having them deliver luggage from the car or getting the car from the valet cost $5 each time. I don't know what is appropriate.
* Weather: light rain at times under overcast skies. Pretty decent weather actually.
