Planes, Drains and Bongomobiles

Helped Marisa to her Non-Delta, More-Alaska flight to Burbank this morning. She wanted to check-in on the internet but it was a ticket issued from Delta for an Alaska flight, so she couldn't use the Delta check-in site for that...and Alaska wouldn't allow a web check-in for a flight booked through Delta. Arg!

Might have made a few minutes difference, but Marisa made sure we got there early enough to check-in right there at the airport (We had to wake at 3:30 a.m.). It still was confusing because we didn't know if we should check-in at Delta or Alaska. The closest check-in to where we entered the building was Delta, so we checked: nope! Then we walked across to the other side of the building and waited in line until we could get access to a check-in machine. Didn't help that about one in four machines was out of order, but we eventually got to a machine.

When Marisa cleared all the identity hurdles on the check-in it asked her to pick a flight. There were, of course, no Delta flight numbers and Marisa did not have an Alaska flight number. An Alaska attendant was nearby, though, and she helped identify the right one (clues: it takes off at the time the Delta flight was supposed to leave...and it was going to Burbank).

We had about an hour before the flight was supposed to board, so we went to Beaches for breakfast. Marisa had quiche, I had a bran muffin and a bowl of fresh fruit. We both had two cups of coffee each.

Parking: $6. Breakfast: $22 with tip. 47-pound checked-in bag: $20. Remember when you could check-in a bag for free? Marisa reminded me that on the last flight (when she went to New York) her checked-in bag was over the 50 pound limit. This time it was light enough not to incur the extra penalty.

On the way back from the airport I got a fill-up for my truck. That should take me through Labor Day.

Drains, bongos...I have no idea.
