Leaning toward certain resolutions

* Now 29 Packages received so far in December:
26. Henry Morgan publicity photo for I've Got a Secret.
27. 1950s slides from Oregon visit.
28. 1950s 8mm film from Japan.
29. Postcard of 1950s era Oregon Trail sign.

* Work was rewarding if quiet: helped one person face to face, another in some e-mail back and forth with a little research, another through some testing and successful use of one of our "macro" programs, and made progress eliminating hard-codes on a macro I am "porting".
* The drive home: dark, cold and rainy.
* Our back room is showing leaks everywhere. It has never been this bad. Usually it would drip in a couple of places, but now there are drips along the original house exterior. I will have to hire someone to fix the roof now. This is going to really hurt the financial recovery to get back money lost this year and then get enough for sabbatical travel.
* We watched this A&E program called Hoarders which we found quite depressing. As I look up from my desk and see cardboard boxes filling up one aisle of my record library I know we are hoarders ourselves. I would like to believe everything I get today has purpose, but so often when things lose their purpose it is difficult to get rid of them. I don't think it is emotional or psychological (I know it used to be so): it is logistical. However, so much of the program rings true:
- the potential that if you toss out something you will recognize that something is gone and then spend additional time and money to get it back.
- some rooms partially inaccessible due to boxed items which may or may not be useful in the future.

* Yesterday I disassembled a love-chair folding futon bed which has become a burden so that danceswithfish can efficiently do her crafting in one room without cluttering our dining room or living room. Good move. But now I have to decide what to do with this furniture item that was so difficult for me get initially...and has been incredibly useful to me in the past. I am thinking of leveraging it with other furniture items: retain it but dispose of others to make room for it. That could work.
* Betty had been on a pain med that ran out last week...and the druggist said we couldn't get more. Turns out the written prescription was not registered with the druggist. Once that was corrected we got her back on the pain meds. It seems to have helped ease her anxieties somewhat, but she still has them. I'm hoping once she is fully back on the routine she'll do better, but I am not counting on it.
