It's been a solid week! No drama, no disruptions and accomplishments every day of the week. Also, no feeling that I am lax in doing something. All this despite colder weather and a scratchy throat that does not want to go away!
* Did several interesting and challenging enhancements to programs I own at work.
* Solved one crash situation, unfortunately due to a program error I introduced at some point, but quickly found the cause and fixed it within hours of the report.
* Cashed my PGE Trojan refund check (PGE had been charging customers for the Trojan Nuclear Plant long after it had been de-commissioned. My share of the refund was less than $20. Guess I will buy some compact fluorescent light bulbs to make the refund work for us!) and a languishing rebate check for $5 I got for Mike's Hard Lemonade purchases.
* Watched some MacGuyver and Star Trek episodes (I am very close to finishing the first season of ST).
* Viewed Star Trek again. It gets better and better each time!
* Gradually cleaning my office and keeping it from getting worse.
- Took some homecut/unique records and stored them in an LP-sized PlatterPak case and found a "hole" for them, taking them out of the path.
- Added outer sleeves to LPs waiting to be integrated into the Mr. Smooth Library. The sleeves were purchased and received recently from Bags Unlimited. The same order also had several sizes of magazine sleeves, newspaper sleeves with backing boards, newspaper storage boxes, 16 inch record sleeves and 16 inch record storage boxes.
- Assembled one newspaper storage box as well as I could assemble it. The top and bottom are made of flat corrugated plastic pieces you fold. The problem I had was the folds were difficult to make and did not stay folded well. My consolation is that when you fill the box and put the lid on, it stays together: it just does not work, though, until you do that. I have a bunch of 1909 Oregonians and newspapers from various important events (primarilly collected by Betty) to properly archive.
* Shaved every day and had breakfast every day. Sometimes that meant I got to work a little late, but some days I stayed late (like 8-9 p.m.), so it works out and I work better with a good bowl of corn flakes covered with 4 sliced strawberries and soy milk! The two cups of coffee at home are also good.
* Tried and succeeded with instant coffee and coffee flavor at work! The instant coffee was some that Betty had...purchased at least five years ago. With the coffee flavor it works out pretty well and means one less 85 cent purchase and use of a food product which would have otherwise gone unused.
* Found the Christmas card list from last year, so I can now start work in earnest on that project.
* The commute via single-passenger truck every day was smooth without any real dork drivers or hassles. True, there was a little accident on Cornelius Pass Road just north of N. Union one night driving home, but the Sheriff's office deputy didn't keep the three vehicles in my lane waiting for more than a minute before directing us through. There was also the slippery icy Germantown Road yesterday morning going to work, but just drove slower and everything was fine. However, each day took different routes, never feared running out of gas (because of my new policy of getting a full tank every weekend) and drove defensively and positively.
* Two days this week got a parking spot very close to the entrance!
* Started dealing with frost and an icy windshield on Wednesday. This is neither bad nor good, just a fact.
* Started wearing an overcoat on Friday. This is neither bad nor good, just a fact.
