2008--How I did!

Jan 01, 2009 04:15

My score on accomplishments in 2008 was not good...about 46%.

*More money going into retirement!
Yes, true. Went to the maximum contribution at work AND began a monthly savings plan as well!
1/1
* Accumulate toward our financial nest-egg.
Nope. Was doing well, but not quite as well as I had initially projected. Then most of what was accumulated was lost.
1/2
* Clean the house.
Yes. Not perfect, but I think we did a much better job keeping on top of cleaning tasks in general and the Drive to Thrive put all the boxes away!
2/3
However, here are some things which didn't happen:
* replacements or fixes:
- filter replacements for heating...scheduled and fulfilled.
- closet ceramic fixture replaced
- lamps fixed (at least two)
- toilet bowl "switch" replaced
- new hot water heater (tankless).
- gutter work.
- pull carpet off the stairs: refinish and put in central runner with brass corners and rods.
- new "old" railing for part of stairs.
- paint and sanding job on back doors.
* Try to limit spending
No. If I had we would have done better on the nest-egg.
2/4
- A documentary on my mom.
No. Just accumulated more material.
2/5
- Website.
Nada.
2/6
* Turn in taxes on February 1...and come up with a plan to regularly donate to worthy causes
Close, but I think it was filed in March.
3/7
* Finish record library work
No, records still on the floor.
3/8
* Try a regular meal schedule again!
No. Again was, I think, one week. Didn't stick.
3/9
* Unpack my new bike and start using it!
Half. Unpacked and assembled. Yet to be used!
3.5/10
* Set up my weather station.
No.
3.5/11
* Continue to cull papers and organize them.
Well, yes...but not enough.
4/12
* Digital stuff organized and archived.
Not nearly enough.
4.5/13
* Eat out every so often with beatnikgoth
Yes.
5.5/14
* Eat dinner at Betty's once a month.
No.
5.5/15
* Drive down to Southern Oregon to see my dad!
Yes!
6.5/16
* Travel a little more as finances allow.
Yes, although maybe more than our finances allowed.
7.5/17
* Plan renovations and redesigns for our house....
No.
7.5/17
* Get ready for Christmas....
Half. We made a valiant effort but late by two weeks.
8/18
* Continue doing what was successful in 2007
Yes.
9/19

So, 9/19 goals achieved...not good. However, in my own defense, we had some unexpected difficulties which took priority. The fact that we were able to do some of what we wanted...and that we were at least aimed in that direction is enough to please me and just get me to keep on trying in 2009!
