Well, I feel much better! I can hear again and Betty seems much better!
* First, I always am glad when my plans work out...and I was able to leave at a reasonable time, remembered to get some cash, arrived at work with my new mini-power strip (so I no longer have connect my laptop power supply to an outlet by crawling under the desk...it is not something old people like me should have to do if I can afford $5 for an extension), completed my first project of the day, left on time, arrived and found a parking space at the MAX station on time, used my long held MAX ticket for good use (because the station's two ticket vending machines were both broken so I would have otherwise been unable to legally ride) and arrived downtown Portland in plenty of time to check-in.
* Second, I had a good blood pressure: 122/80. The weight...well, of that I am not so proud: 168 pounds. It is not a diet problem as much as it is a sedentary problem. I need to give myself more time to bicycle or do aggressive walks or daily calesthenics.
* Third, it was only my left ear and nothing more than wax which had plugged up my ear canal. One swoosh and I could hear again (he did a 2nd swoosh for good measure, but by then I was already ecstatic that I was more or less a fully functioning human again).
* Fourth, I got back earlier than expected and had a nice lunch.
* Fifth, I was able to attend training on a how to run debuggers.
* Sixth, I felt empowered to leave the training at a break when I realized they were addressing topics which were not immediately applicable to my work...and covering stuff that was a little over my head (close enough I could feel it woosh by, but not close enough to grasp it, if you know what I mean).
* Seventh: finished another project before I made exit stage right and got home before the sun went down for once!
* Eighth: swung over to visit my mother-in-law, Betty, who they had just got into bed after dinner. She was smiling and happy and looked much better. The gal who is staying over to observe and help her, Dawn, says Betty ate well all three meals and, other than this morning, was cooperative and well-behaved. The morning was put to a little of the "I am not a morning person" syndrome that even those in the best of health deal with. Betty says she is now so sure she'll be able to do well with just the one leg but promised she hadn't given up...and Dawn says that even through the day noticed Betty was improving. I think all Betty needs is a little TLC, quiet, and some food...and she finally is getting all three! Of course, it also helps that she is no longer getting one thing: opiates!
* Ninth: got several items delivered from recent ebay auctions...including a neat letter opener, a 1937 yearbook from the high school a block from our house, a Canadian silent film buff's newsletter featuring an interview with Buster Keaton and silent movie reviews from "Len" Maltin (yes, same guy).
* Tenth: I did some wav to mp3 transfers to a thumb drive and on random play it makes a great listening experience...what with vintage Stan Freberg commercials mixed in with Bobby Christian percussive big band and all the rest. Like wow!
So, all in all, I feel a lot better now! Thanks for thinking about us!
