Back to normal for now

At 10 a.m. I've had breakfast, coffee, pills and am dressed.

I also met with a guy about our kitchen project. He had tried texting my non-text ready phone. For some reason he has no concept of people who have phones which aren't hooked up to computers. Firms like that: not a good fit for us.

Just got off the phone with some one from "General Builders" and told her that I am willing to accept estimates as long as no one calls. No response. Then I said goodbye. I provided a Catch-22 they will have to figure out. If they call I am not willing to accept estimates. If they don't call they can't contact me to set up estimates. Basically I am telling them no without saying so.

Yesterday I got a call from the Russians (actually don't know where they call from, but they have this slow talking approach which I ascribe to Russians who are not comfortable with English). He said "My name is John Carter." I immediately seized on that. "How's Mars for you?" "What? I don't understand." "Are you John Carter of Mars? Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote about you. (pause, nothing) Okay, I thought you might be John Carter of Mars. I guess not. Good bye!"

I moved the Theda painting to the basement, still rolled up, but closer to where it belongs.

Just got a bunch of books I ordered, so will opened the packages and put them away. I also rinsed all the dirty things in the kitchen, put out recycling and trash (including two trash bags in the front room) and swept the kitchen floor. I also unscrewed the old garbage can rack, moved the old garbage cans and rack into the laundry room and basement and did the initial install of the new rack and cans under the sink (I will see how a two-screw install will hold up. There are also four brackets each requiring three screws. I can do those later).

I cut the blackberry and sword ferns and raked out the straw into our compost bin. Now we can see Marvin and Delbert's gravestones again!

Our side gutters were cleaned today by Wilderland Roof and Window Cleaning. The guy used a ladder with a spreader so it could sit on the roof with great stability. He put a strainer at the downspout entry to make cleaning easier later. I want to hire someone to put in new downspouts, but want to remove the siding first, so that could be months away.

kitchen, cat graveyard, sword ferns, gutters, basement, scam unlimited, downspouts, blackberries, theda bara, books, contractors, photoplay novels
